So I'm in the market for a new Sig due to an unfortunate event that caused me to be without my older Sig P226.  I've narrowed it down to the Mk25 series and have been reading around but haven't been finding answers.

I can't decide between the standard Mk25 and the threaded barrel model.

Questions are how is the reliability of the American made Sigs?  I've read through some threads but really is verging on causing a headache from one saying trash to Sig bashing to another saying they're improving from recent years.
I know select holsters for the railed P226 will work with the Mk25, but what about the threaded version?  With those using it what have you been finding for compatible holsters?
If I go with the threaded barrel model is there a way to purchase a spare non threaded barrel that is the same i.e chrome plated/phosphate coated?
Also what is this I hear about the new Sig mags, something was said about reliability issues?

Ok, I will bite.

My experience comes from shooting both German made p228/p6/p226 and USA made p226.

I would say as a whole of all German made p22x pistols have a little better fit and finish with a higher QC vs all USA p22x pistols.  When I say little better that's all I mean, just a little.

The USA sigs in some ways are better made by using CNC machines and other newer technology vs hand welded slides.  My USA p226 tacops has 4k + rounds down range and has yet skipped a beat. Not one problem and you can't tell it's been used much at all. A person I know of has 50k + rounds through his us p226 and he could sale it on gun broker saying "500-1000 rounds top," and most could never know. His has been an outstanding pistol. I don't buy into the "one German made are worth 15 USA sigs".

It's also fine to run +p ammo all day in us sigs, (I would do my spring replacement sooner then with non +p but they are built to handle higher pressures that will truly beat up the German pistols fast).

I have been very happy with both German and USA sig I have owned. I don't shoot my west German pistols mostly because they are becoming harder to find and a pice of history. My go two pistol is my us p226 tac ops so that should say a lot.   The mk25 is nice, lots and lots of happy shooters with the mk25. If you want the threaded barrel it's cheeper to buy it on the gun the after. You can get either from sig. After a box of holsters, I only run bravo concealment  kydex. They will make you what ever you need for a mk25 TB .  Good luck.

Short answer, they are both some of the best defense pistols ever made. Just a little different  from each other.

My MK25 has gone bang 3724 times in a row.

I've never heard of any SIG P226 reliability issues.

I don't have the threaded barrel.

Good luck.

My p228 is great and I have heard of no issues regarding the Mk25
