OK, Here goes, I bought a police trade in a couple of years ago. I want to send it in to SIG for the maintenance, springs etc.

I am also considering:

- SRT Upgrade

- New one piece grip

I really like the pistol, except for the reset and mine already has night sights, so that's not an issue. Cost is about $300 with shipping.

What is the current opinion here on the SRT and New grips? (I'm going to see if I can find a stocking location locally to try them out before)

Worth it or should I consider other alternatives through Gray Guns or someone else. Your opinions requested :-)

SRT on all my sigs. Absolutely love it

I'm not much of a fan of the E2 grips though.

You should be able to find a place to ring a SIG with one or both options

SRT on my Sigs also, one of the best modifications that Sig came up with.

I also fit mine with short triggers and all but one with E2 grips.

The P227 and some of the other Sig offerings come with E2 grips so you should be able to find an example at any LGS that carries a good line of Sig pistols.

+1 SRT on all my SIG's (except my new SAO)

I personally prefer Hogue G10 grips for my x-large paws

ETA:  You can get a SRT kit for <$50 at TopGunSupply and install it yourself.  You can also get all the springs you need @ Wolff Springs, and do the same.  Youtube is your friend.  Learning your pistol is priceless.  OTOH, I hear nothing but rave reviews of Gray Guns.

To install an SRT in a p226:
You literally only need to replace the sear and the safety lever (which are right next to each other on the same pin)

You release the sear spring, push the pin out, and out would drop the ejector, the sear, sear spring, and safety. You then toss the old sear and safety and replace them with the SRT versions. Putting them back on the pin, from the left side of the frame, you've got: the ejector, the sear, the sear spring (sits inside the sear), and the new SRT safety. The sear spring needs to be pushed back under the pin that sticks out from the frame.

The old safety should look like this:
And the SRT safety (and sear) should look like this:

Orientation: The photo basically shows the SRT safety upside down. When you installed the new SRT safety, the 'triangular' shaped end with the hole for the pin (shown at the bottom of the photo) should be at the top of the frame, with the rounded end with the pin hole toward the hammer end of the frame, and the pointy part that's squared off (bottom LEFT in the photo) faces the muzzle end. The long straight rectangular part (top of photo) hangs straight down toward the mag well.

All of this.  +1 on TopGunSupply.  Not very hard to do and the experience and first hand knowledge is valuable.

+1 on SRT.  E2 grips are great, but you should get a feel for them before plunking down the cash.  As said above.

Big +1 for the SRT!

I bought my P226 with the E2 grip.  I got used to it.
