What are NIB P228s with night sights going for these days?  The local gunshops here seema little high to me, and I jsut wanted to see what others are asking.  Please, no auction sight prices.  Thanks.

I would guess $700-$800 from a gunshop.  Why on earth would you buy a new one?  Get a trade in for half that, its a Sig, it won't wear out from being in a cops holster for a couple of years.  All the used sigs on the market represent AMAZING value in quality handguns.

Drew,
Thanks for the recommendation.  I had considered that, but am iffy about buying a used gun that I can't put my hands on and look at first.  Maybe if I see one of the Sig Factory certified's in a gun store.

A cert. Sig is as good as new, except for the finish.

Buying a used one is all well and good; the only problem is finding it!!  NEW P228's are hard enough to find, let alone the used ones, at least in my neck of the woods.  I broke down and bought a new one just last week (the first one I have ever seen in a gun shop around here), and I'm sure I payed to much for it, but it's MINE!  Muuaaaaahahahahahahahahaha!

Just keep looking -- you'll find one.

I've looked as several of the "factory certified" ones and they were all in very nice condition.

The local gun shows are a nice place to look too.

Last August/September a shooting freind offered me one -- box, papers, test target, and about 98% condition.   Only paid . . . .

$400  ! ! ! !

Picked up a Sig 225 in November -- same dude -same price  ! !

Love my 228 but carry the 225 A LOT ! ! !

I got my Police trade-in Sig 228 from CDNN. It cost $379 with night sites. The night sights still work, and the condition is amazing! It also came with three Pro Mags (not the greatest, but good for the range), a cleaning kit, a lock, an instruction manual, and a Sig case. The FFL that received the Sig thought it was brand new.

I paid $650 for mine, two tone with night sights a couple years ago.  Now I see that CDNN has them for $369 and want another one just 'cause.  Its a wonderful pistol.  I could care less what I spent on it then, when I got mine, no one had them, they were just coming on to the market.  But don't have any qualms about buying one sight unseen, they are superb little guns.

I just got 2 P228's / K-Kote and night sites, and a P220/ K-Kote and night sites, used from CDNN. All three had some holster wear but mechanically all are in excellent condition and and shoot great. I'm selling both of my Glock's, I like the SIG's way better.

I paid $589 for mine at Scottsdale Gun Center out here last year.  I know the price has gone up, but you might want to call this guy.  He can ship it to your FFL, and his prices are usually the best around. (480) 874-1383, ask for Steve, if interested.

For those guys ordering from CDNN, did you pay the extra $20 for the hand select?

Also, I'm a Sig newbie, so can someone explain the K-Kote to me?  I assume it is a more durable finish (compared to standard bluing), but is this a Sig factory finish?  Also, how does this compare to the Nitron finish on the 229s?  I'm trying to decide between a 228 and a 229 for a carry gun so I do want a durable finish.

I just purchased a P228 from New Helvetia Trade Group.  They have an ad out on Shotgun news for P228 selling for $299.  When I called to place the order, they were all sold out of the $299.  But they told me that they had plenty of 60-70% mech. sound, cosmetically flawed for $239 and two 90% hand select for $329.  I bought the $329.  But when I received the pistol, it was the 60-70% instead of the 90%hey  I bought in the past a 90% hand select P220 from CDNN and it looked 90%.  New Helvetia Trade group did a bait and switch on me.  Beware buyer.  Here is a pic of the suppose 90% hand selecthttp://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/421589f3z261847a3/77a9/__tn_/e08f.jpg?phhT1KCBBRTNyi0O

I would have been satisfied if they would have been honest and charged me for the 60-70% conditioned P228.
