I was wanting to get my husband a sig P938 for our anniversery and was wondering what model would be a good one to get for him. There are several variations on the Sig website and it leaves me unsure of what one to get. The local gun store has an Extreme for 749.00 in stock and a Blackwood for 699.00 in stock. They said they could order any of the models. Any input appreciated. Heres the sig site with the models.

| What style of gun does he typically like, and/or what would he do with the gun (conceal carry, range gun, etc)? I personally am not much of a fan of wood or stylized grips and prefer a less flashy, more subdued "military" look so I would go for the black rubber grip model. |

Do the in stock models at your LGS come with 7-round magazines? The 7-round magazines provide pinkie support with the P938 allowing a better grip. Any of the models, to me, looked great and one to add to any home.
Also in my area, P938's have a very short shelf-life. They are usually gone within a week when initially set out. The P938 is a popular gun and the sooner you can get your hands on one, the better. |
| The extreme should come with two magazines. It should have a flush fit magazine as well as an extended grip magazine. This is the model I would buy. It's really the best deal due to the extra magazine. At least that was the case when I bought mine. Alone, the magazines cost around $50. |

He is looking for a conceal carry gun and mentioned many times he likes the p938. I am sure he would take it to the range also to become more comftorable with the gun.

Knowing that then I would be even more for the black rubber grip model. I held one at Cabela's and thought it felt nice. |

I found the grip just a bit short for a man, so the 7 round mag was important for me. If you husband is a basic, no-nonesense kinda guy, get the black rubber grip (938-9-BRG-AMBI). If he likes a little flash, get the Extreme (938-9-XTM-BLKGRY-AMBI). SAS is nice, as some people REALLY prefer them, but I really didn't much of difference on this particular model. I think he'll love it whichever you nuy |

Thank you

Here is a pretty good deal on a P938 while it lasts, it comes with 2 mags, (at least 1 is the 7 round extended) $559.

I purchased a 938 XTM yesterday and put around 60 rounds through it, this model has the ambi safety, siglites and nitron finish. This model also has front cocking serrations (which I do like), Sig seems to have their QC problems under control as the current Sigs look good and this one is no exception its a nice gun. the gun is comfortable for both the Wife and myself, it is smooth and the controls are easy to reach and operate. I was surprised by how easy and smooth racking the slide is on a gun of this size my Wife has no issue with it. It shoots well and is a pleasure to shoot. I gave 710 for it. it came with 2 mags (6 round, 7 round). This gun is also typical of Sig, it starts showing finish wear rather quickly. |

Thank you.

That sounds like a good gun. I noticed you said the typical finish wear starting. If a person got the SAS model thats stainless would that not wear as fast or much.
