I know you used to be able to get one of these for around the $450-600 area. I recently found one at a pawn shop with matching SN#'s but it was beat to hell, i would honestly debate on sending it to Sig for a new finish and it came with (2) 10 rd mags and a leather holster and no case for $700 and he would only move to $675. Would anyone consider this a deal in todays age or should i stay patient and keep searching if it takes time?
Thanks! |

How can they be NIB and a CPO, I thought every CPO was a refurbished one NIB as in straight from SIG, with the red tape still around the grip. As opposed to a pistol that went through the CPO process and then was fired and used. ETA: I should have put quotes around "NIB" to highlight what I meant and been more clear. |

Keep an eye on wideners, they seem to get some (surplus) every now and then.
228 link EDIT: add link |

I love the three that I have. Still looking for a all SS P228, until then the factory dual tone is my favorite P228. Nothing balances better than a P228, surprised it took this long for folks to catch on!!! I don't think a stainless P228 exists what with the folded carbon steel slides, etc. |

| Sorry, I meant to say nickle they are very rare and hard to come by. But one day I will have one. Took me almost 12 years to find the dual tone I have and it gets carried now and then. Since the finishes have become what they are there are a lot of fakes floating around that claim to be the real deal. |

I found 3 still new in the box 1997 dated German P228's in the estate of a retired NCIS special agent. Seems SIGArms had a special deal for NCIS agents when adopted the P228 as the M11. I missed out on the M11 marked pistol, but they had 3 of the new in the box P228's with standard sights and finish for $750 each.
He had a US Secret Service version P228 with SIglites and K Kote finish for more and a USSS P229 with both 357 SIG barrel and 40 S&W barrel for a lot more with Tritiutms. Love the P228's due to lighter weight and no rails. FInish also seems to be better on them than newer SIGs. DOn't like the rails on them at all and solid slide on new M11A1 is much too heavy for the cailber.......... A friend is waiting on Surefire to bring out their small 22 rimfire suppressor and he has his P220 fitted with a SIG 22 rimfire kit and long SIG 22 barrel with threads and Gemtech adapter.......now that is what I consider a versatile pistol......... |

I'm looking at this P228. Got the 228 bug for a German one. Prices are definitely up.
What do you think $850 too much? Its a KD 93 B 200 906. Sent a message to seller for pic's of the rails and barrel smilies. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=347297306 |

Why not just wait for the M11-A1? What is the real difference besides two less rounds and stamped slide? I'm not real studied on the 228. The mag bodies that come with the new M11 look different than my P228 factory mags. I have read that the mag dimensions r a bit different between the guns as well to accommodate the 2 extra rounds in the M11 mag. I have no idea if the mags are compatable between the two models. |

Old mags will work in the new sigs, the new mags will NOT work in the older Sigs. I imagine that to accommodate 2 more rounds the M11 mags are a tad fatter than a P228 mag so that's why they don't fit. Do P228 mags rattle in a M11 frame because of the wider mag well? |

I have a west German 228 that I have owned for about 20 years. It is my favorite 9mm handgun. I realize that these guns are getting harder to find in top notch condition and regularly bring north of $1000 in pristine condition on gunbroker.
Curiosity and price have recently motivated me to buy a 9mm SP2022. I have only put about 150 rounds thru it so far but it is a fine gun. The way shoots and operates and the size are very similar to the 228. I do have a few complaints but none are related to the quality of the pistol. For about $400 street price you can have a very similar gun to the 228 that is brand new. |
