I picked up a used Sig 229 a few months ago.  I have only put a couple hundred rounds through it but I am pretty happy with the purchase.  I was thinking about doing the Sig Service plan because I would really like to update to the Siglite Night sights.  Has anyone used this plan?  If so what are your thoughts.

I am nervous because I would hate for it to come back all messed up after replacing springs and such.

it won't...I did the SiG Service Plan on my 1986 vintage P225 in 2006...I also had a full Nitron applied (yes they can/could do it ;) )...I wouldn't hesitate if you can deal with the price...contact SiG about the shipping as it can save you big time (their price was FAR better than any price I could get)...I can do the SiG Armorer stuff myself but for the price of the SSP at the time WITH new night sights (I had damaged contrast sights in my P225) it was a no brainer...

I keep getting tempted every time they run a special. I have a 229 that is suffering from some rust and neglect.

Wow! I didn't even know this existed! I've been wanting night sights for my 226 ans if I read this correctly, they'll go through the pistol AND supply and install sights for $150? I'm not seeing a whole lot of downside here.

My wife bought a used P225 that she has had for about five years.

I sent it in for the SIG service plan. Wow, what a difference. It doesn't seem like the same pistol and the night sights are great.

Wow that is a great deal. I just bought a very well carried Sig 220 Carry and lightly shot pistol. If it proves worth it I may invest in the same plan. How fast do they get the pistol back to you?

Thanks for the info.  I will probably contact them soon.  I have a smith in my area that could put the sights on, but it will probably cost me the same amount and I wont get all the springs replaced and the Sig workover.

Just got off the phone with them. Shipping label is on the way! The one thing I really didn't care for on my Sig is the sights so I'm really looking forward to the new night sights.

Quick update. Got my P226 back in less than 2 weeks. Got the receipt a couple days later and they charged me shipping. We didn't discuss that, they just sent me the shipping labels. Not too happy about that part.

However, my P226 has never looked better. I had old style sights on it and now has night sights that I love. That was the primary reason I went this route. It's also more accurate than it's ever been! I couldn't believe the groups I was getting today. I'm very happy with the service plan and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Pretty standard to barge shipping. Most likely the shipping labels saved you a few bucks.

Was Cree shipping partnof the deal?

...and I'll bet if you checked, you paid their price for shipping and not the much higher price you would have if you secured shipping yourself...let's see some pics...

Yeah, if I had paid more attention to their description on their site, I would have probably looked at my cost to ship to and from vs. their cost to me. Bygones... Here's my 226. Keep in mind I got this about 9 years ago as a police reissue. It's held up great and I love the new sights. Can't believe how bright they are. Good to see them glowing on the night stand. Pic is after I got it back and put 150 rounds down range.

KH Date Code under the barrel so I believe that means it's a 1997 W. German. Please school me if I'm incorrect.

I just got a used 225 and am thinking about sending it in. How much is the Nitron refinish?

they no longer do the whole gun...go to their site to see the latest price for a slide refinish...also look into CCR or others for refinishing...
