I went to the gun store yesterday and saw a brand new Sig Pro 2340 for $399.00.  The price was great for a Sig but is this pistol similar to the more expensive Sigs as far as reliability and accuracy?  Plus how do a .40 cal compare to a .45acp in performance?  I've been using a .45acp for years and this is the first time I'll be getting a .40 cal.

Appreciate any info you guys can give me.

Thanks,

I have the P2009 the 9mm version. Reliable and accurate.
as far as 40 vs 45, that's a different war but whatever you like.

Thanks for the input gudel.  That's all I need in a pistol.  Reliable and accurate.  Wish the Sig Pro made a .45 version though.

The Sig Pro will do right by you. I have a 2430 in .40 and the thing has given me zero reliability problems and plenty of accuracy. Despite the polymer frame it's still a Sig and acts like one.

I too, wish they offered it in .45, the majority of my guns are in that proper caliber.

Thanks Raulin for the input on your Sig .40.  That would be my next pistol.  The $399.00 price attracted me to it plus the quality of Sig handguns.  I'm just waiting for my CCW which I would get anytime now so I would not have to pay the $25.00 background check.

As far as .40 VS. a 45, a 40 is more law enforement. Not as powerful, so the round doesn't travel through 3 traler parks. but still accurate and very good stopping power!

We don't carry them, but from an armorers standpoint, very easy gun to work on.  the trigger module comes out as one unit, and is solid, and simple.  Richmond PD issues the Sig Pro, and has had great success.

Thank you Speedinc and rifle-cop624 for your input.  The .40 is only a bit smaller in diameter than the .45 so it should be almost the same in stopping power. My .02.  It's good to know that the Richmond PD issues the Sig Pro.  It tells me that it's a reliable pistol.

I have a Sig Pro 2340 with both the .40 S&W barrel and the Sig .357 barrel. I have had no reliability issues with either barrel; although the point of impact is slightly different between the two calibers. The slide does cycle back faster with the .357 rounds especially if using rounds with the likes of CorBon, and I might look into getting a firmer spring from Wolf just for the use of these hotter rounds.

If your going to get the Sig Pro in .40 S&W you will be very happy, I shoot this caliber more often then the other caliber because they are cheaper in my part of the country.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your input with the Sig Pro .40.  It's good to know that this is a very reliable pistol.  I'm going to use it for carry when I get my CCW and it's comforting to know that I could rely on it when needed.

Thanks,
