I am about to buy a P228, will a p229 threaded barrel work in a P228?

it should if it is a P229 in 9MM...other than that it shouldn't...

FWIW I have a NOS German made and proofed P228 barrel in my US made P229 and not a single issue. Most venders seem to sell the 228/229 barrels as interchangeable.

as long as you stick to 9MM...using anything else in that 9MM P228 slide might be bad...
