I just bought a Sig factory threaded barrel for my W. German P228. I threw the barrel in last night and when I went to do a function check I could not cock the slide without a fair amount of force. It felt like the slide was getting hung up on something. After a few times cycling the slide it loosened up a bit but it still feels like it is getting hung up and unless I let the slide go with some amount of force, the slide doesn't return completely and the guide rod is left sticking out about 2 millimeters.
My question is, do I need to bring the barrel to an armorer to have it fitted or should I just put some rounds through the barrel and see if it loosens up? |

Give sig a call and ask them if is normal. I have never tried a threaded barrel, but have used factory replacement barrel for 226 and they drop right in and never gave me any trouble. http://sigsauer.com/AboutUs/ContactUs.aspx |

I wouldn't shoot it unless everything falls into place , fits properly, allows the action to work smoothly, and let's the pistol go into battery correctly. I'd like to know what the problem is and how it's eventually resolved. I could not figure out the problem on my own and I did not want to pay a gunsmith to figure the problem out for me so I returned the barrel and ordered one from Jarvis. I have used a Jarvis barrel with this gun before and it fit/functioned flawlessly. |
