I noticed while looking at holsters for the 239 that some companies want you to specify the caliber.  Is there a difference in width between the 9mm and the .40/.357? Sig's website does not show a difference on specs.

Yes there is a difference. I don't remember details, but it's enough to matter.

The slide is taller on the .40/.357 239s and therefore are a couple of ounces heavier.

Our holsters fit both, but perhaps some holster designs are such that they need to be specific. I noticed Galco lists the calibers as separate holster models, yet when I contacted them for a customer about a fit issue with a shoulder holster, they told me that they are actually the same holster no mater which caliber you choose when you order.

I can tell you from experience that a fobus paddle holster is caliber specific.  I bought a used one online.  It was for a 9mm, and it didn't fit my .40.
