| I may be selling my Mosquito and I am considering getting a .22 conversion kit. I like the fact that I could shoot cheaper ammo, but using the same pistol. Just curious about reliability and accuracy and would like to hear from some people that have the conversion kit. Thanks. |

I have the P226 and the .22 slide. We actually got the P226 as a Sig P226 .22 classic. Then got the 9mm x-change kit. But its the same either way.
Our P226 in .22 is great fun to shoot. Took much less work to get to run reliably than our Mosquito did. Once broken in (about 500 rounds), ours feeds CCI Mini Mag, Federal Bulk pack, and Federal Automatch all perfectly. To this day the only ammo our Mosquito works perfectly with is the Automatch (last 600 rounds Automatch, all perfect). If you have P226 in a large caliber (9mm, 40) you will be surprised how light the .22 slide feels. It changes the balance a little. You have a P226 trigger (that I like) for .22, after a lot of break in our Mosquito SA is pretty good, but the DA is not the best. I think the P226 has a good DA and great SA. Accuracy, well that's relative. I find our P226 with .22 about as accurate as our Mosquito, which isn't bad for a "combat style" handgun. My cheap S&W 22A is much more accurate than either, but it is a target pistol. If the goal is to get cheap practice with your P226, you will be happy. If you want to punch holes in exact locations in paper 50 yds away, you will be disappointed. I think groups at 15 or 25 yds are good for what it is. I love my P226 in 9mm. In .22, it's cheap practice, and a lot of fun to shoot. My only disappointment is Sig did not implement "Slide hold back on last round". You can get the "Sig Power" (a 3rd party site, not Sig) followers (I did), and they cause the slide to slam into the back of the follower after the last round (a 1/2 baked solution as you still have to manually pull the slide to get the mag to release, at least your not regularly dry firing a .22, I can't count to 15 |

Do they offer a threaded barrel for suppressor use for the 226 frames in .22? Yes they do. Unfortunately, we can't have them in IL. I am leaning towards getting this kit. I haven't really had any problems with the Mosquito. It eats the Federal bulk packs just fine, but I would like to get more trigger time with my P226. I think it would be a good training aid. |

I have a Sig P226 Combat and acquired a 22lr conversion kit with a threaded barrel. I am very pleased with the fit and finish of the 22lr conversion kit and I use it with my TAC 65. The conversion kit came with the thread adapter for my suppressor!! I was surprised as everyone seems to be squeezing their products to get that last dime and then they include a $20 part.
It is easy enough to expand the capacity of the magazines past the factory 10 rounds. I like being able to use the same trigger for 9mm and 22lr. To switch calibers is easy and the box it comes in holds the slide that is not in use. I have nothing bad to say about the 22lr conversion. |

I've moved to KY and I'm not needing them blocked at 10rds anymore. Thanks. |

Sigpower.com sells the parts––followers, plugs, springs, recoil guide. The following is their web address: https://www.collectors-society-slabs.com/shoppingcart/categories/Sig-22LR-Upgrade-Parts-*ORDER/ Of course a poor man's approach would be to cut down the plug that's in the factory magazine. |

Bump back to the top –– I was checking out the conversion kit in the AR15.com store, and noticed this:
"P226 kit fits any U3 or higher serial numbered P226. Fit will be sloppy on older P226's, although it will function." I have a U1-gen 226. Anyone know just how sloppy the fit will be, or if there's another conversion kit that will work better? Thanks in advance... |
