Ok here's the reader's digest version. I bought a Sig GSR . It broke the same day. So Sig is sending me a new one. I was thinking of just selling or trading it for two used glocks. Not sure what i should do. Kinda scared of the new GSR being a POS too.

one gun for two?  I think the choice is clear.

How'd the GSR break?  If you find out a bunch of folks are having the same issue, ditch that sucker.  Personally, I'd give it another chance.  I trust and respect Sig, but it's a no-brainer that, compared to a Glock, their pistols are more complex and therefore more likely to bust something.

My problem was with the firing plunger. The retainer pin which for some reason is located on the outside of the slide behind the extractor would not stay tight. SO when the pin dropped below the frame it would slam into the frame and lock the  slide up. I'll give you guys some pics at the bottom. There were several other problems people have listed. Grip safety failures, triggers,FTF, FTE, improper cuts on the slide, hammers sitting off center, etc etc.The problem is , it's not a SIG , it's a 1911. To make things worse it's a 1911 with a few new twists. I'm a little hesitant due to the fact it's a new model.

Pin #1 holds in pin #2

When pin #2 drops it slams into the frame... pretty huh...

Wow!  I'm pretty surprised to see Sig slip so badly on the engineering and/or QA like that.  I want to give them a little slack because it's a first-gen piece, but "pins falling out" isn't really minor...

If you're like me, you'll sell/trade the replacement and not look back.  I bought an Anaconda many, many moons ago with some seriously fubar clockwork.  As soon as it came back from CT, I traded it for a Smith 29.  Once I don't trust a mechanical device, I just plain don't trust it and I don't care to invest the time any money to give it the opportunity to win be back over.  Hell, it's just like women, actually.  "Burn me once, shame on you, etc. etc. etc."

DO the trade then send them to GLOCK have them look at it ,if anything they will replace the old parts inside!!!Oh thats for free, you just pay S/H !

I know of another one of these pistols that literally fell apart while still brand new in the gun store.

Run, don't walk.

Actually, I would trust anything made by Sig. I would not worry about it, I have heard nothing but good from the GSR. Personally though, I would rather have two Glocks. Glock is the best out there, IMO.

Give Sig a chance to make this right, then if you still don't trust the gun, sell it or trade it...simple. The 1911 design tends to work best when not modified by lawyers and engineers into something much more complicated than it needs to be.

I'm also very surprised at Sig.I would def do the 2 for 1 deal or go Dan Wesson they make some lovely 1911s.

Damn, I was just considering selling my Glock for the new Sig.  Maybe I'll wait until they work some of these problems out.
