What is the best caliber choice in the sub-compacts for carry? i'm leaning to the G33 .357sig. Also what ammo selection for your choice? thanks

How do you define "best"?

9mm is easiest to shoot in the subcompacts, and has the highest mag capacity.

Up to you, I guess.

Depends on your criteria, G30 for shear firepower, G26 for 9mm concealability.  Not a big fan of .357 SIG due to not being able to find ammo or components in as many places.

Depends on what else you have, if any other Glocks, 17, 19, 22, 23, 31, 32, etc.

What calibers do you already have? What calibers do you feel comfortable using for defense? This one is really up to you.

I prefer the G26, as I also have a 17 and two 19's.

10 rounds in std mag, plus two possible.

Shoot before you buy. 9mm .40 & the .357 then pick what you shoot better.

I like my G27 I run a .357 barrel in it though that is my Back Up Gun and my carry for work because the G32 is to big to conceal with a tucked shirt for me.

What can I say, I roll with shorts and sandals 80% of the time. Because the weather permits it where I'm at (Southern CA, Southern NV, Northern AZ).

I would go with a 9mm, locally I can always find 9mm's but very rarely see any .357 Sig ammo available

Funny because I've thought about getting a .357 Sig Glock just because my local Walmart has a decent stock of it, but rarely 9mm.  Unfortunatly, 'she who must be obeyed' doesn't think that's a good enough reason to buy another gun.  I may still start stocking up on ammo...just in case.

Start reloading, good sir.  It's the only way to go!

Oh, I do...now I just window shop for ammo unless I find a good deal.  I'll still pick up Fed 9mm for $9-10/50 every now and then.  Hey, you gotta keep the brass supply flowing .

Regarding the OP: I would personally stay clear from the .357 Sig in a subcompact, but that is me.  I think they generate a bit too much recoil for a little fellow.  As others have said, I would recommend shooting it first before settling on a caliber like that.  I like my G26.

G26 is easy to shoot and with good ammo will do the job.

I would be concerned with the G30.  The short barrel can hamper the ballistics of the .45 ACP and I would consider carrying it if i was carrying a Glock 21 as my primary gun.  Otherwise I would stick with a 9mm, .40 S&W, or .357 Sig in a subcompact if I am not going to carry a full size gun.

I have a G26 and G33. I also have a factory G27 barrel for my G33. The G33 in  stock form goes with me when I go out. I really like the subcompact frame and the 357 caliber.
