Quoted: My recommendation stands... If it has batteries, it can fail. If it's got tritium, it'll be 7-10 years before you have to worry about it. Quoted: (if it's a carry gun, use nightsites...) right, but for home defense... it would seem to make acquiring targets quicker. Where would you zero a sight like this? 5 yards...7 yards... All the more reason to go with a shotgun, you'll naturally point it much easier than a handgun due to the length alone... |

Has anybody tried the Aimpoint mount for the Glock? I'm thinking the recoil on the micro must be significant, how can that NOT shorten its lifespan? What are the pros and cons? http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/botach_2096_423812308 Paper punching/killing zombie targets? Sure why not have some fun, eh? HD/SD purposes, unless there's a proven MFG'er who has a certified product that can sit on top a Glock slide, I'd stay away from the idea. I have no personal insight into using a slide mounted RDS, other than to add that they do look like unnecessary weight/cumbersome for HD/SD purposes. At the range with the friends/family/buds, I'm sure it'll suffice. Quick draw from the bed side stand/drawer, and ability to maintain accuracy reliability, I have some doubts. Hell, on a quick draw from the bed side stand I'm uneasy with night sights/standard posts. Hence the general HD recommendation of "get yourself a shotgun."
Added to all that, you're showing a pic of a compensated Glock. (I'm guessing a 17C). I' hate to spend $400+ on a Aimpoint micro dot, and not keep it protected from the potential blow-back debris/particles of a compensated. |

Alot of interesting discussion over on Lightfighter about this................................seems like one of these days it may be the way to go. Sort of the way we all first looked at RDS on rifles...............................once they were "newfangled" and "impractical", but now we've all got 'em.
Seems the greatest issue, other than the mechanics of mounting them, is rapid aquisition of the dot. It's more instinctive with a rifle, but with a pistol it takes some getting used to being able to aquire the dot quickly when the pistol is brought up. |

because shotguns are less cumbersome than a Glock with an Aimpoint?
I am questioning whether the Micro H1/T1 would hold up to the punishment of the Glock 30 recoil? |

Quoted: It is if you have to find the on switch and turn it on, but not too bright, in the middle of the night, half asleep, and hit what you're pointing at.because shotguns are less cumbersome than a Glock with an Aimpoint? ![]() And if the batteries crap out, you've got no irons. Quoted: Quoted: You want to put that thing on a 30?I am questioning whether the Micro H1/T1 would hold up to the punishment of the Glock 30 recoil? Seriously... (it's a compact for a reason) And both the T1/H1 and the Doctor will run you almost as much $ as your G30. Why don't you add a poll asking how many people here would put a RDS on a G30 as a home defense pistol. |
