| I just picked up a 2nd gen 19 and cant find out when It was made. The serial number is ZM###US. Can anyone help? Or maybe its ZM0##US? |

I got the info from my Ptooma Reference Guide. How much did you pay, OP? A used Glock is a great gun, doesn't matter how old it is, just as long as it's in good shape, and in some cases with some models, if it's had whatever few "upgrades" have come along over the years. The G17 I carry most every day was made in Feb. of '90. One of my favorite pistols, runs like a top, trust it with my life. It was 400, and worth every penny. |

Yo Vini, any info on this one. 01xxxDPD. its a Detroit PD gun. i can't find any dates on it. all i found was a guesstimate of '97. its a 2cd gen BTW. Thanks man. You're talking about your G22, correct? I'm guessing you're saying DPD is the serial number prefix, the 3 letters before the numbers? If so, it shows DPD as made in Feb. of '94. |

Going rate for a good condition 2nd Gen is $450-550. When I got mine,...I could have bout a brand new one for a few $'s less. The quality of the 2nd Gen Glocks spanks the 3rd Gen models! http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c341/faawrenchbndr/G19pic2.jpg In what ways are the 2nd gen superior to the 3rd gen? -consumer buying a 19 next month |

I bought it for 500 but its looks brand new. Came with 2 mags box of ammo, and trijicon night sights. |

No Glock should be more than $450 used... ever! |

However, I bought a MINT 2nd Gen G19 with 200-300 rounds fired, nearly no wear on the barrel's finish, still having copper grease on the connector. The frames are better, the grips is far superior to the 3nd gen, it just makes sense to me. So you are saying it would be wrong to buy a 63 Corvette for $200k if I can buy a new one for $70k?! |

Quoted: Hmmm wait a tick. According to the chart at glocktalk z=june and m=5 and o=0. So what the hell is the date? Surely it wasnt made in 1950....... It doesn't work like that.... Glock started with AA001 and worked it's way up through ZZ999, then started AAA001 and then on. The individual letters don't mean anything other than it came after ZL### and before ZN###. |

OP you did spend a little much but the night sights are a bonus that kind of made it worth it.
Do not feel bad or feel stupid I have over paid for things in the past just because I WANTED IT and would have paid whatever for the item just because. They are not making 2nd Gen Glocks, Night sights, and you happy with your purchase makes it worth every penny. |

Apples and oranges, and you know that. Not apples and oranges! Some people prefer the 2nd Gen frames due to the lack of the darn finger grooves. On a compact Glock, I hate the finger grooves, that are not as bothersome on a full size frame like my G20 |
