After I dry fire my G22 to 'make safe', I've recently noticed that the firing pin has a tendency to continue to protrude from the slide face the next time the slide is cycled (by hand), and not retracting until just a fraction of an inch before the barrel and slide lock back up. I've never had any issues with the pistol,  and really never noticed this before. Is this normal?

Yep, completely normal. That's how they work. The striker gets reset as the slide cycles. The trigger bar is pulling back and presetting the striker right at the end of the cycle as you are seeing when you hand cycle it.
