Guess this is the best place to put this... Has anyone ever been to a Glock Armorer's course? If so what did you think of it? How did you get in?  Or is there a better course to take? etc..etc...

Here is my opinion....I have been into GLOCK pistols since the mid 90's and I had found every thing on the wonderful internets about taking them apart, replacing parts and what not. But I really wanted to take the class just to do it and so I could order parts directly from GLOCK.

So I joined GSSF, found a class close to my town and took the class. Not reallly needed, but if ya want to take it, that is what you do. Start by joining GSSF and there is a GLOCK training website I will post aswell.

GSSF

GLOCK Training

By the way my instructor was Goldsmith and was very cool.

Ihave been to the armorer course and the advanced armorer coure.  I got in becasue I was sent by my department as one of the armorers.  Not sure if the GSSF is offering the same training. But I think the advanced course is LEO only.  Dennis Teuller was my instructor.

With how much is on line these days and common sense, I dont feal the basic armorers course is needed to maintain your weapon.

Thanks guys, if you don't mind, What was the cost? I'm not MIL or LEO, so will I have any problems getting into this class??

It is the exact training, my class was all LE. I was the only goofball there that wasn't. The links have all the price info, and locations.

I have been a Glock owner/shooter for many years, knew how to disassemble and reassemble from manuals and internet sites, but I still wanted to go to the class.  It was well worth the $150.  Now that I've done it I probably don't need to do it again for a long time.

I went to the basic one last year that was held in my area.  I work for a stocking Glock (and Glock LE) dealer so got in that way.  There were police, and GSSF members there as well.  Even if you are already an expert in the Glock, and if you've taken other courses, it's still nice to have the "official" course also.  At the very worst it let's you get wholesale pricing on replacement parts.

don't waste your $$ unless it affects your job. the glock is one of the easiest handguns in the world to break down.

The price of the one I am going to in July is $150. It usually states on the website whether or not you have to be LE for any particular class.

Being a member of GSSF qualifies you for the Glock armorer's course.
Getting certified as a Glock armorer, lets you buy parts from Glock at cost.

I agree - the basic armorers course can be learned by anyone with easily obtainable publications. Although I did like a lot of the history and various tid bits of info on the Glock such as showing the bar stock which a Glock barrel was made from, a bulged barrel from firing a stuck round, a G18, etc.

As of this year Glock has made a new rule that individual PD's can request that LE only attend which could make it more difficult for non LE to get into a class.
