I took apart my firing pin assembly to to install a new firing pin spacer sleeve and was wondering what you guys thought about which direction the spring should go or does it matter. The end with the most coils towards the spring cups or vice versa? The Ptooma book says its non directional but I was just wondering what you guys thought. I put apart all of my Glocks and 2 have the end with the least coils and one had the most on the spring cups. Just curious about what the hive says.

I always do it with the part with the tight coils on the spring cups

No matter which way you put the spring back, be sure the two halves of the spring cups don't rest on the firing pin spring joint... keep the cup halves at 90 degrees to the end of the spring...

Look at the spring, you should see atleast two coils that have less space between them than the other end, that's the tight end.
I have no wish to pull the slide plate off of one of my Glocks right now or I would try and get a picture.
