I bought some Kahn mags for my G17 the other day and after preforming a function check with them, one of them locks back with a loaded magazine.  The slide is only able to go forward if I hit the slide release.  All the other mags cycle, but not this one particular mag.

Any ideas of what the deal is?

Interesting...any way to fix it, other than by purchasing a Glock mag?

Not sure..............I myself only use Glock factory mags, specifically to avoid these types of issues.

Look inside and see what part is pushing the slide stop up?  Probably a bit of flash, I hear they may need some flash removed before they will function 100%.

This for a few extra bucks you buys something from Austria rather then China or Korea.  German engineering vs Korean engineering........

Aren't the Khan marked ones known for issues and the KCI marked ones are GTG?

This.....I have 22  GLOCK versions of these but a family member bought a few of the Kahn variety.  We took his apart and trimed all the flash left over.  There was several places it needed to be done.  I know he has used these several times and has not mentioned any problems since we serviced them.

I agree. I bought some of the KCI mags when they were first available and had problems with every single one of them. Nothing can compare to the OEM mags.

KCI/ KAHN mags suck balls....I bought 5, then became brutaly familiar with gun show vendor's return policy...."There are none."  FML.

If you want to learn the REALLY hard way, I'll sell you 2 G19, 2 G17, and 2 G18 KCI mags for $100,000....THAT should learn ya...

Hope this helps!

Though Austrian and German are not quite the same.

I thought about buying some Korean mags but for the price of OEM Glock mags, I will buy OEM.

I wish I could help you out more, but without seeing the pistol and mag its tough to say. It could be a number of things. I would carefully check the bad mag carefully against the ones that work, and look for extra plastic (flashing). I thought about buying some of the Korean mags but changed my mind when I found used Glock mags for cheap- just changed out the springs and they are good as new.

KCI and Kahn mags are not the same in my experience regardless of the packaging and country of origin. I wouldn't spend money on Kahn mags either but the 10 KCI's I bought have been flawless and well worth the price I paid for them ($10ea). As a matter of total disclosure... I did replace the mag springs (Wolff XP) and floor plates (Glock +2) on all of mine but that was something I was planning to do regardless of which mag I started with.

UPDATE:

I must have spent two hours time (over the last week) attempting to figure this out and all of a sudden it hit me!  I figured it out!!!

The left side polymer portion of the feed lip is too thick.  I got my gerber out and took off enough to keep it from holding the slid lock back and now it runs perfect!

Now to all of you Korean mag nay sayers....

Glad you got it fixxed. I bought a few of the KCI mags for my G19. I use them for range mags, to keep some of the wear and tear off my OEM mags.

I have a bunch of KCI G19 mags, they work fine, I use them in matches, and I just toss them into the dirt on changes.

KCI mags cost me about $9 each, I had some flashing on the back and the front of the mag that broke off with the slide, I never needed to touch them.
