Well, while watching Costa on the Magpul dynamics dvd I noticed that he had what looked like skateboard tape or decal grip tape  on his slide. Not that I'm just drinking the Costa koolaid, but I thought about doing something like this to one of my Glocks to see how I like it. When reloading, I use the sling shot method and figured it would give me a little extra grip. Have any of you guys tried this? What did you use?

No, I would never put grip tape or anything like that on the slide.  That's what the serrations are there for.

I like it to be able to slide in and out of the holster easily.

True, I was looking at putting on my range gun not my CCW. Its just an idea I have been toying with. My range holster is a Serpa and I have looked at the clearence between the slide and holster and it doesn't look like it would affect it drawing.

Depends on the holster.  A full height leather holster with a thumb break might have problems.  A Safariland 6377 would not.  Other than the rough tape rubbing against your skin or clothes.  Many cocking serrations aren't all that great though.  The forward angled ones are the best I've seen so far.  The ones on the RTF2 Glocks are also decent.  Better than the standard vertical ones.  I'd like to see a stipled slide.  Might be worth it.

I've sometimes pondered what it would be like to have cocking serrations down the entire sides of a slide on an autopistol.  I wonder if anyone's ever done that.

I would also like that. Don't get me wrong I love my Glocks but the finish on them is pretty slick when its humid outside or your hands are sweaty. I would really like to have some really aggressive texturing of some kind on at least the front and back.
