| I give.. the dimensions on a Glock 19 are just too perfect for a lightweight winter CCW when compared to my Browning High Powers and 1911's. So, should I get a compensated or non-compensated? Do they come with night sights? Are there different grip texturing options available? Checked out the website but didn't tell me much. What's the perfect CCW G19? |

The perfect G19 CCW is a G26.
Either then compensated or non-compensated would be fine. The non compensated will get less dirt and lint into the slide and barrel, it will also have less muzzle flash at night. The compensated model will have about a 10-15% reduced muzzle flip. |
| Go with a regular plain jane Gen3 or Gen2 G19. The compensation is no help, there isn't enough recoil with the 9mm to warrant it, also the flash you get is no help. As far a texture the new RTF frames are slowly showing up, but you can always put grip tape on an older gun. |

Indeed, the "perfect" G19 would be the standard, non-comped one, straight out of the box, maybe with night sights.
The C model, in my opinion, offers nothing advantageous, while having a few minor disadvantages, such as blackening the front sight, having those gases going in a direction other than downrange, etc. etc. As far as different grip textures, you have the different gen frames, plus the new RTF frame if you can find one. Or a grip reduction or modification is easily done according to your own personal liking. |
| I'd go non "C" model if you don't have a way to get free non-ported barrel. I have the "C" model but was given a non-ported barrel for free by a really nice guy on another forum so I use that most of the time. The porting does help in recoil, however, increases loudness, but I can't say as though recoil is a big deal with 9mm. |

if you search you will find the same points brought up everytime this is asked. there is no new info in this thread as the last "C or no?".
i have a 17c and my brother has the 19c. we would still go with the same model if we had to buy them again. < posted this the last time the c ? came up

No comp. Shooting from retention or contact shooting is really brutal, if not impossible, with a comp. Besides, it's a 9mm. No need for the comp. Have you ever fired a Glock "C" model from retention? Yes, but perhaps the word "brutal" was the wrong choice of words. Let's say "uncomfortable" or the "potential to be uncomfortable". |
| I greatly appreciate all of the informed opinions and I will heed your inputs. No compensator. I also think I'll wait a month or two and get the new RTF model that is just now becoming available. That and I'm thinking of having trijicon sights installed day 1. Thanks for taking time to provide guidance. |

All the above comments are correct about normal 9mm ammo not needing the comp due to low recoil with typical 9mm ammo. However, if you use this 9mm ammo below (ballistics close to 357 Sig ammo) you will appreciate the lessened recoil from the comp: http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_37&products_id=120 Note the power: "124gr @ 1295fps / 462 ft. lbs. from a G19" Or this Corbon +P 9mm ammo: https://www.dakotaammo.net/shop/product_info.php?cPath=21_32&products_id=37&osCsid=72818efd24463a886130b5e6ab0f2456 Or this Corbon +P 9mm: https://www.dakotaammo.net/shop/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=185&osCsid=72818efd24463a886130b5e6ab0f2456 Power: "100 GR. PB 1475 FPS/ 483 FT LBS" So if you are only going to use "normal" 9mm then the recoil is no problem. If however you're going to use some stout stuff like the above then you will appreciate the reduced recoil gained by having a comp'd gun. Just another opinion and something for you to think about. |
