| I'll be picking one of the above up when I am home in December and cant seem to make my mind up on once one. I have fired a G27 but not the G30 but have fired many .45's, to include a G21. This will be a CCW and Im leaning toward the G27 for the simple fact that ammo is a little not much but little easier to find. If anyone has had this same delima please fell to comment, thanks. |
| I have had a G30 for about 12+ years, and it is my favorite CCW gun. Carried it everyday for the better part of 8 years concealed, goes bang every time I pull the trigger, and reliably eats whatever I feed it. I even reloaded a batch that was .01 inches too short, and didn't have a single problem. The only thing I would trade it for would be a G30SF!!! That being said, my summer gun is a G26, mainly because I am not fond of .40 S&W, and have read about a few issues with .40 cal Glocks here and other places. I also have a couple of other 9mm, so it didn't make sense to add another round I can't afford. |
| I have both my G30SF is my winter pistol and my G27 is my summer pistol and running pistol (I use a .357Sig barrel in mine though) The G27 is easier to conceal and more comfortable to carry IWB because of the thinner slide. The G30 has a thick slide which is the only disadvantage of it. |

Actually, a more equal comparison is between the G30 and the G23 rather than the G27. While Glock calls the G30 a 'subcompact', it's much closer to the dimensions of the G23 but having a wider slide and grip. If you've shot the G27 with a mag extender for your little finger, then you'll love the G23 as it's grip is the same length as the G27's + the extender. In addition, the G23 carries more rounds and has a slightly longer slide giving it a better balance. I'd recommend the G23 over both the G27 and G30. |

Get BOTH
I have a G30SF, which fits naturally in my hand, feels great, but not a light weapon fully loaded. Side by side the slide is only slightly thicker than my G26, so its more perception than reality that its beefier. VERY accurate. I don't have a G27, but do have G26 and G23, which I suspect are very close/identical to the 27. None are slim- but they carry quite a wallop. G36 makes NO sense to me, what you give up in rounds is not paid back by size. For super light, slim and small, go with Kahr PM9 or PM40. FYI, the G30SF does not feel like the G21SF. The 30SF is more natural in the grip curve. |

Got both.
Use both. Love both. Prefer the 30 though, but that's just me. I recently bought the barrel and magazines to convert the G27 to 9mm, just for some additional flexibility. I may have to get an extractor too, but I'm going try it w/o to see how it runs. YMMV. |
| If you already have a larger pistol to carry and are looking for something smaller for when that larger gun isn't practical then I'd recommend the G27. If this is going to be your main carry piece and you don't already have something larger then I'd recommend the G30. I have a 27 and 29 (10MM G30) and have carried both extensively. |

I won't again bother with anything .40sw. If I need/want more than 9mm, it's a move up to .45acp. No intermediate steps for me. |
