So I am new to the Glock game ( also an official addict) and I have been seeing references to the numbers on the mag followers. Could someone give the rundown on what those numbers indicate? and if some are better than others? Thanks |

Glock occasionally modifies followers to improve feeding or solve a problem with certain types of ammunition, each modification receives a new follower number. 9mm followers are currently at #6 and while I don't own any .40 caliber I believe the followers are up to #8. New followers are not always backward compatible with older magazines so it's best to not mix and match your magazine components. For example on older 9mm magazines 9mm, 9mm1, 9mm2 or 9mm3 followers will work but 9mm4 and up will not. I use the if it isn't broke leave it alone attitude, I'm still running 9mm1 followers in the magazines for my carry Glock 17's... they've never failed me... |

I had some old mags with the original 9mm follower in them. They wouldn't feed hollow-points in my 3rd Gen G19s. Every mag with the 9mm1 follower through the current #6 follower have worked perfectly in my 3rd Gens.
This is the only example I can give of a problem with a specific follower. |

Have there been any issues going the other direction? I mean like a no. 6 mag not working in a gen 2 Glock? |

I've used the latest Glock magazines with #6 followers and ambi cuts in my Gen 2 17 with no problems at all, both 17 round and 33 round... |
