I am thinking about loading for a Glock Model 22 and keep hearing about problems with reloading. Any comments or recommendations?
Thanks |
| Nope - always worked Ok for me. The .40S&W is a high pressure round, and the Glock does a poor job of supporting the case in the chamber, so that combination along with overpressure rounds can cause a kaboom, but if your loads are otherwise safe, you should have no problems. The only unusual problem with Glock fired brass is that it will bulge a lot, which can remain when reloading it. I use an EGW undersized sizing die, which does a better job than my Dillon die at removing the bulge. |

I have reloaded 1000's of rounds shot from and for a Glock 40S&W without a single issue.
I would recommend not loading max charges as a starting point or doing anything else stupid. Remember the 40S&W is very close to the ragged edge of failure anyway and you are reloading it and shooting from a platform that does not have the most case head support so keep it on the conservative side. |
| I've only got about 15k in reloads fired in my 22. Though I do have a LWD barrel and shoot cast lead now. I loaded W231 and Unique mostly, the unique has been pretty good for me, with 180gr cast, the action just does cycle at 4.2grs of powder and I think the max is 6gr. |

Not to jack the thread here, but what barrels are you guys using to shoot re-loads out of (factory, Lone Wolf, etc.)? Thanks! Stock Glock barrels, nothing special. They work just fine with reloads. Only aftermarket barrel I have is the 9mm conversion barrel for the G23..............which also sees alot of reloads. No problems for me running reloads through the stock barrels, in 9mm or .40. I put 'em through my G17 and G19 also. |
