On my glock 21 the recoil spring always seems to come out of place either when firing or just cycling the slide. *knocks on wood* so far it hasn't prevented the gun from operating properly, just weird that it always happens. It's the stock spring from glock, I even bought another OEM spring and it did the same thing. Just wondering if this is "normal" and happens to other people or should I look into getting it fixed?  TIA!

What do you mean "out of place"?

Let me guess:  when you go to reassemble the pistol, you put the back end of the Recoil Spring assembly in that "notch" at the bottom of the barrel...............only to find that when yoiu put the pistol together, shoot it or rack the slide a few times, then disassemble the pistol, it's no longer quite in the notch anymore, right?

Perfectly normal.  It's supposed to shift down there.  The "notch" is just for reassembly purposes.

All our Glocks do that, and it's perfectly normal.  As you said, your pistol is functioning properly.  So go, and keep shooting!

Thanks, and yes it's not in that notch when i field strip the gun. Thought it might not be right because when you strip it the spring doesn't really hold the barrel in the slide and it falls out on dissassembly.  I appreciate the information!!!

Roger that.  Yeah, all our Glocks are exactly like that, at least the fullsize and compact ones.  That Recoil Spring assembly won't "hold the barrel in" the slide, usually.  Not supposed to, of course.

And Welcome to ARFCOM dude.

good to know...first handgun I've owned and have been very happy with it. Just got my concealed license in the mail today so excited about that and will be going out and picking up another glock for CC!

Thanks for the welcome to the forum!

I have a new 21 and it does what you say.  Worse then any of my 9mm glocks ever have, but it works fine.  Every time you take the slide off the assembly is in a different place on the barrel and about to fall off.  It can't fall off when the gun is assembled and they run fine.  It is anoying and I would worry if I did not know better.
