A friend of mine, who is a police officer, just got his Glock 21C back from a warranty repair. The rear slide rail on the left side broke off from the frame. I thought that problem was limited to a small run of Glocks from several years back?

Glock replaced the entire grip frame. Turn around time was 2-months. Now he has a mismatched gun with the original serial number on the slide & Brl and a new serial number on the frame. Since the gun was shipped for repair by an FFL he has to do the DROS and other paperwork like its a new purchase all over. He's not thrilled with the way it all worked out.

I told him next time just ship it himself via UPS or Fed Ex.

I thought when Glock replaced a frame that they created a new one w/ the old serial number, and destroyed the first (or at least I heard that from a gun store type a couple years back).
