ok well i have a few handguns, but not a glock. The one i shoot the most is my 92fs. The others are a 1911, hi-point .40 cal  and a taurus .44 snub nose. Which i rarly shoot and im not too crazy for

Really wanna glock and im thinking about a trading it for a glock.

If i were to i would probly get a G17 or G22. If i were to ger the G22 i would also buy a 9mm barrel to shoot cheaper 9mm ammo out of it. I heard that there are some problems with the new G22's. Is there, what kind of problems is there and can i fix them?

Well........................

At this point, the general feeling seems to be that newer G22's are "hit and miss".  There are all these reports here and elswhere of PD's switching from G22s because of reliabiliby issues.  I do find this odd, I must admit, as the G22 is still a widely used and issued LEO sidearm.  But the reports are there.  Some of the issues have to do with light attachment, some not.

In some of these cases there doesn't seem to be a "fix", as the problems are not real well defined.  It seems of late that Glock has dropped the ball on this one.  I'm not sure what to make of it.

If I was so inclined, and had the funds and the desire, I would buy a G22.  My other Glocks have been outstanding pistols, and I would expect a new G22 to be the same, despite these reports.  I'm pretty confident that as an individual customer, that if I DID aquire a "lemon", I could send it back to Glock and have them do whatever they do, maybe even send me a new one..........who knows.  Hard to say at this time.

There is also the idea that the .40 and .357 Glocks have less longevity than the 9mm Glocks.  This is of course over many thousands of rounds.......................

I can say my own G23, a .40 of course, has been nothing but reliable, and 6,500 rnds later (and over 1,000 rnds of 9mm), I see no undue signs of wear or problems showing.  I am it's first owner, it's 3rd gen.

That said, I am very enamored of the G17 now.  I'm back into 9mm for so many obvious reasons.  The G17 is just an outstanding pistol.  Accurate, stone cold reliable, great capacity, light weight, easy maintenance, (most Glocks exhibit these characteristics), etc. etc.  It's just a great pistol.  And I take great confidence in knowing how tough 9mm Glocks really are.

My G17 was built in Feb of 1990, has had an untold number of rounds through it probably (a few thousand at least), around 1,500 rnds from me through it, and runs like a tank.  I trust my life with it, I carry it every day.  Not sure I'd have that much confidence in a .40 that old.............................

They're pretty much both great pistols, with great reputations.  The reputation of the G22, however, has begun to tarnish, as of late it would seem.

I would say go with either, but the G17 is definitely a sure bet.

ETA:  We're standardizing on 9mm here pretty much, at this point with the successful conversion of the G23, all my Glocks are (or can be) 9mm.  This is for reasons of logistics.

I own five Glocks:

G26 great carry and amazingly accurate for a small frame 9mm
G29 serious and compact 10mm carry; nearly as accurate as the G26 but what's the worry with 10mm rounds on center of mass ever time.
G19 not easily concealed but easily loved especially with a Gemtech can and a 33 round mag.
G21SF The Glock 45 ACP with 1913 rail under barrel and accepts a Kriss 30 round mag (big fun). Not the most accurate but again, center of mass.
G20 The King of the pistols with 15 rounds on 10mm and little felt recoil. Be a man, get a 10mm.

All have run flawlessly in weekly range trips as I rotate the line up.

All this and I wouldn't even consider .40 because I don't need another caliber in the stock pile.

Come on you know.....10mm is the way to go.

i do like the 10mm but ammo is alittle too expensive for what i want it for. unless i started reloading....

Everyone who can should start reloading....................it's the only way I can afford to shoot more, and store up ammo.  Plus it gets you more "in touch" with shooting, you learn alot about ammunition, and a whole new world opens up.  It's great.

I highly recommend it, it will dramatically offset the cost of ammo as you load.

And yes, I reload for my Glocks, 9mm and .40, and no, never any kind of problem.  Alot of us do.

I also own a G20, but I don't reload.  I just give Mike at Doubletap lots of my money.  10mm Glocks are a hoot.

I'd go with the G17 over the G22, but don't rule out the G19.  A lot of folks think the 19 is the perfect Glock.  Smaller than the 17, more concealable, but you still get 15+1.

I own three glocks.

G21, I started shooting matches with it after having some hammer bite issues... that is one accurate gun.
G30, thick, but a good shooter, and it conceals well with the right holster.
G19, my newest, and it's a great shooter, I can shoot it as well as my G21, and conceals quite well with the proper holster.

All three guns have TruGlo TFO sights.

I have two Glocks a 17 and a 21, i have fired hundreds of rounds from them with no problems at all.Recently I have added tungsten guide rods and new trigger assemblies, in my opinion they shoot better groups from a sand bag test. I like em alot!
