| The G17L model appears hard to come by as it seems to be made only in limited production runs. Has this model been officially discontinued? Are there any real merits/advantages for the 17L over the standard 17 and 34 other than increased barrel length? |
| I suppose the perceived lower recoil is attributed to more of the gun's weight being towards the barrel end resulting in less muzzle flip? I've handled one before and it felt like the muzzle naturally dipped down as opposed to my G19/G26 which feels more evenly balanced. Is there much difference between the 4.5lb G17L trigger vs. standard 5.5lb trigger? |

After IPSC adopted the "it has to fit in this arbetrary box" rule a few years back, Glock replaced the G17L with the then new G34 designed around the rule. Then in 2005 IIRC, they re-introduced it but only import about 3500 a year all in one shipment. Once the shipment clears customs, you'll see them everywhere for a couple of months and then will see none until the next year. I got one out of the first new batch because I was afraid it would be a one time thing. I added a ported barrel and now it really does recoil like a rimfire. Strickly a range queen, but gets shot more than either of my carry glocks (G26 & G19).
The G34 & G17L triggers with their 3.5# connectors feel substantially better and more controlable than the std. G17, G19, G26 tirgger. Not that the std trigger is all that bad in the first place. Brazos Jack |

I've been calling up local shops and picked one up from Academy which happened to have 3 in stock. The serial # starts with MTY which indicates a Dec. 2008 production date. The salesman there told me the G17L wasn't a popular seller. Can't wait to test this baby out. |
