Just picked up my first Glock pistol, a used model 19 with XS Big Dot sigts. I took it apart scrubbed it up and must say it cleaned up nice. It does have a querk that is bugging me pretty bad though. After close examination, i discovered that the XS rear sight is not centered in the dovetail slot, and the front sight was a little crooked too. I was told by the guy I bought it from that he filed too much off the bottom of the sight when putting it on, so he used a lot of the thread locker from the XS sight pack to keep the sight from moving. I checked with SUR-LOK and was told that the particular product, SUR-LOC 1262, is considered "permanent".

Well, I was able to straighten the front sight. I also located a proper sized hex wrench to fit the allen screws that are locking the sight in place. I tried to turn the screws, but they don't want to budge. Anyone have any suggestions of how I might breaak that sight loose to straighten it up?

Try heating the screw up a little and if that doesn't work, try a penetrating oil.

Heat is the trick––try a soldering iron.

Hey, thanks for the suggestions guys. The soldering iron heating up the screws loosened them sufficiently that I could back them up a little. Then a little persuasion from a  punch and hammer freed the rear sight enough to center it up. All that's left to do is paint over that dead radium element with  some luminous paint and the sights will be usable for my aging eyesight. I get some time, I'll post some pics of my "ole beater".

XS will probably sell you a new set at a discount if you give them your old ones.
