I have one Pearce grip plug and it fits a little proud on my 9 & .40 guns while fitting a little shy of flush on my 10 & .45 guns.

Which brand of butt plug do y'all prefer for your Glocks?

Midway has them, Product #527651, $5.99.  I've used three of them, on a 17, 19 and 22.  Fit perfect.  I like the look, and they do help a little with magazine changes.  They have a different Product # for the .45/10mm framed guns.

The hole back there is open all the way up to the connecter/ejector housing/back of the trigger mechanism.

Plugging it eliminates an entry path for sand/debris that could in theory jam up your trigger mechanism.

That being said, I've never had a problem and do not use them, but I certainly wouldn't argue with someone who did.

It also eliminates the exit path for sand/debris if the pistol goes into the drink.

Get a Scherer plug... you will not be dissapointed.
http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Products.aspx?CAT=149

It has a ramp that helps in assisting with reloading and the length does not extend the bottom of the magazine.  The pictures don't give these plugs justice.  I'm extremely impressed and have replaced all my Glocks with these.

I have a plug on my G26, but not on my G23.  I bought the one for the G26 before I learned what the port was for.  It is actually there for you to be able to get a better grip on the mag and forcibly remove in the case of a stuck/jammed mag.  My $0.02.

What about the Sunset plugs?  Are they worth anything?  I mean I guess that extra round could be useful, but not if it rattles.

If there was no room for improvement, there would be no aftermarket.

Yup.

Besides Glock endorses night sites and installs them themselves.  If the plug was worthwhile, I think they'd patent their own version, no?

But, since I can't see how it could hurt, you want one?  Have at it!

Cheers!
