What other guns do you Glockers trust your lives with to carry? Advantages, disadvantages? Do you worry about reliability? I personally only have a G30 and carry that G30. Many more to come in the future though |

I carry a G26 with 'special' rounds, every other one in the stack, in my waistband w/a backup 33 rd mag or two in the console.
I have a G19 because it's able to use the same can and same 33 rd mags as the 26. When I'm going to a more 'intense' area of FL I'm carrying my G29 (10mm) with those amazing 175 gr Win's...696flb's Very few pistol rounds can match that. And I back up with the S&W airlight .357 in the pocket. SHTF, I've got a G21SF with some Kriss 32 rd mags and shares a can with my HK USP .45 Tactical. Threaded barrels: Lonewolf but I've start buying the premium ones without the logo on top... No other pistol has so much gear available and has 33 round mags other then the G26/19/17 or the G21SF w/32's (a little harder to find). Next up, I'm getting a G20C for some 15 round 10mm fun. Yes I own others, like an FN FiveseveN (sick rifle round in pistol) and a Beretta PX4 9mm w/TLR-2 (my nightstand gun) but Glocks 'own' my safe! I'm waiting on a deal on a great 1911 for the 'old school' sake of it, too. Sorry for the rant but it's my 900th post!!!!! I think... |

Oh, and no KABOOM!!! ![]() FredMan Nice HK! But what's that crap in the small print on your slide? I have the same looking small print, with the crap, on my HK USP .45 that I just bought (used). |
| Have had good luck w/ Sig 226, Kahr K40 & P45, Colt mustangs, Beretta, S&W wheel guns but always liked the simplicity(no levers, same trigger pull, etc.) of the Glock. Bought my first one in the late 80's, a 20, and have been hooked since. For me personally, I would always want to grab a Glock first so I decided I should have more than a couple of them. Over the past 3 years I have traded or sold everything else and replaced them w/ Glocks. Simplifies mags, ammo, etc. Many fine pistols to choose from, I chose the Glock. |

Got my first HK not too long ago, a USP 45c and I'm in love with it. It just oozes quality and great workmanship, to me anyways. Haven't really had a good opportunity to shoot it much but I really like it and if it shoots anything like what I hope, then I'll be wanting another.
Have to say I have a few XDs in my pack as well. They're kinda like my glocks, nothing special, nothing fancy but have yet to fail on me and are very comfortable. my xd45 is probably my most comfortable and fun to shoot pistol, that is until i get more time on that HK... |

Serious question about HKs. What is the reason they have such a loyal following?
In what way are they better than Sig for instance (their closest competitor in pricing). Is their manufacturing process somehow superior or something? Are the triggers better, etc? I think P series Sigs and Glocks are about neck and neck for reliability. Is HK somehow more reliable than those two? I am only comparing bread and butter Sig P series pistols and not their current lot of odd pistols. It seems like HK is the holy grail for many here and I wonder why. |

For me, I don't like the feel and ergos of the plastic HK pistols and DA/SA triggers have always perplexed me. But Glocks work just fine for me, even the slightly too large for my hands G20/21s. I still want to add a nice Sig 220 to my collection even though it can do nothing for me that my G21 can't already do. Basically you'll just have to try them and see what you like, and what likes you. That's why it's good to have friends with differing tastes in guns than you have. |

It seems like HK is the holy grail for many here and I wonder why. I've owned both and here is what I have seen- HK has infinitely better quality control HK's have a much tougher finish that is much more resistant to wear and corrosion HK's are not finicky about how much oil they need to run- quite a few Sig's I've seen need to be run wet in order to function 100%- my old 226 would still fire, but if it wasnt dripping, it would never lock back HK's *in my opinion since triggers are subjective* have a much better SA pull. Sig's have a better DA pull, but who cares. Condition one is king and thats one of the best features of HK. HK nowadays actually has better customer service than Sig. I'm sure I could think of more. Older German built Sigs are the way to go- while on occasion I've still seen an older German sig require more oil than normal to run, the ones that ran ran like a raped ape. The newest ones coming out of the US plant have more QC problems than any other manufacturer I have ever seen. While a Sig that runs will run well, I wouldn't even put them in the same ballpark as Glock and HK when it comes to overall reliability. No fault of the design itself, but rather poor execution of the design by direction of Sig's latest CEO. The Sig design is a bit more complex than other firearms. Its not something you can just throw together and hope for the best. Its a precision instrument that needs precision assembly...and unfortunately that is no longer the case. To answer the OP... My old man has a Beretta 92 that has been beat to snot and never malfed. I would trust it in a heartbeat. I also trust HK's. I have owned atleast 8 HK's in my lifetime and I have NEVER had a problem with any of them. They were all 100%. I'm down to only one USP Tactical .45, but thats mostly due to my favoring 9mm overall. I trust Glock's obviously, seeing as how I've cut back my collection to 5 centerfire handguns, and all three of my 9mm's are Glocks. All future 9mm's will be Glocks too. I shoot them as well as I shot my HK 9mm's, and they share mags, so I made the switch to Glock for 9mm. I also have a Robert Miller massaged 1911 that I trust entirely. Of my personal collection, its got the most rounds through it and still has never malfunctioned. |
| I have two HK's, two S&W .357, a Ed Brown .45 and a Wilson Combat .45. I have 8 Glocks and thats what I always carry. The nice thing is they all work the same and I can carry different pistols depending on how I'm dressed and what I feel needed for what I'm doing. |

I've owned 4 glocks. I love glocks.
But I dont carry one concealed. They're just too fat to fit into the way I want to carry. If you are the kind of guy who believes that a ccw should be comforting, not comfortable. Then you are fine. A glock is a fine weapon and will serve you well The reality for me was that after owning a 26 and a 23, I realized that I rairlly carried them because they required too much effort. I've since gone to lighter and slimmer alternatives. For a semi-auto it is difficult to beat the Kahr. They are reliable, accurate and SLIM. Think of the PM 9 as the single stack 9mm glock should have built. (long trigger reset not withstanding) I've also settled on a the 340PD J frame revolver. 10.5 ounces of .357 magnum power. But only 5 shots. My latest gun is the Ruger LCP. .380 acp in a gun that is easily pocketable. Granted, I'm a lazy gun owner. But thats me. I dont want to worry while carrying. I want it concealed and able to be "worn" as an afterthought. For me, the glocks are just too fat and too heavy. (even the 26/27) This is in no way a criticism of the Glock as a weapon. They are exceedingly reliable, with excellent practical "combat" accuracy". I would trust my life to a glock without hesitation. Don |
| Wait there are other guns than Glocks to carry....LOL I kid. I have a 22 and a 23 I really like just wish I could carry maybe soon with the way this state is going. So it is kind of nice to read a thread that isn't just tearing apart one or another companies gun. I think if I could afford it I would have a SIG or an H&K but a brand new Harley kind of put a damper on guns for awhile. |
