I am in the process of trying out two new ones (other than Blackhawk and Fobus). I just received a Wild Bill's Fusion paddle last night, but they sent me the straight versus FBI tilt model, so I haven't fully evaluated it yet. Overall, a decent setup. It does ride a little higher than 'normal', but that is by his design and is not an issue. It rides closer to the body than the Blackhawk Serpas do, but not as tight to the body as an IWB. The paddle seems comfortable, but I have not done a long stint with it. However, I have never had an issue with a paddle being uncomfortable. I am going to exchange it for the FBI tilt (as I ordered) and give it a try for a few days.
I am also going to try the Galco CCP. I have read mixed reviews on it as far as how close it rides. Overall impressions are good on the construction/quality, and it can be switched to a cross draw for seated use if that is a need for you. Saw one mention of the paddle being smaller than average, but I am not sure what average is. Serpa's paddles are huge/wide, and the Wild Bill paddle is about the same as found on a fobus paddle (but is Kydex and more solid than fobus). Just keep in mind paddle holsters are a compromise. You likely won't get the stability of an IWB or Belt slide style holster, but you will get the easy on/off. If you are having to remove the rig for going into work or a school, the paddle is a nice option. For all day carry though, make sure you understand the paddle will likely move around a lot more than other options. I am use a Milt Sparks VM2 IWB most of the time, but I am looking for an option that will allow a litlte easier removal at times, and will ride as close to my body as possible. |
