Well i just picked up my first glock, actually the first one to get to my dealer from my order (have 2 19s and a 17c on the way still) and i must say im impressed. I had a few questions though since im new to glocks.

What should i do before taking it to the range for the first time? Does anything need to be stripped and lubed or checked before i give it a first run through? Ive heard of stronger springs in some glocks, should i look into some heavier ones for the 10mm sinces it can be a pretty powerful round? I do intend to run mostly Double tap ammo through the gun, and i know they load it pretty stout, but i also would like it to run reliably with some lower powered loads for plinking and pratice time. Does anyone produce a 10mm fmj load that would be cheaper for plinking with? I dont want some 40S&W loads in a bigger case, but i dont want to spend the 60 cents a round on DD for plinking if you understand what im saying. Ive seen 6 inch barrels in 10mm for the pistols, are there any from a specific maker that the glock world holds in higher regard than others, and also is there a place to get a long slide for the 6 inch barrel?

Thanks for the help, I cant wait to get this thing out and shooting. Id love to do a long slide version as well as a long slide 9*25 dillon race set up just for fun.

The "nicer" 6 inch barrels are not drop in, they are semi drop in.
Wolf makes a long slide for the 6" barrel, they also make a drop in 6" barrel.
Remingtom makes 10mm in green box(reloadable) as well as blazer in aluminum (non reloadable).
Just load it and shoot it, there is not really a break in for glocks.
You only need to really change the springs if you want to put a long barrel AND a comp on it. You may want to change the springs to adjust the feel. Wolf makes a complete set.

9x25 dillion is just a matter of dropping in a 9x25 barrel. Wolf makes one.

Hope I answered all your questions.

ETA : The accessories for the 21sf will fit your 20sf as well as MOST accessories from the 20 standard and 21 standard.

Thanks for the info, i guess the next question is, who do i get a top of the line 10mm barrel from along with a good slide, and who is the best to send it to for fitting? Im from the 1911 world, so if anyone could direct me to the best glock smiths for this fitting and where to get the best parts from that would be much appreciated as well.

barsto barrels

Barsto makes a very nice glock 20 barrel, requires match fitting.

Wilson combat and caspian make some very nice barrels and slides for the glock, but do not make anything for the model 20 at this time.

I buy virtually ALL of my plinking ammo from them, regardless of caliber. Top notch stuff & cheaper than the generic factory brands.

The "nicer" 6 inch barrels are not drop in, they are semi drop in. (Not necessarily.  KKM barrels are as good as anything out there, including Bar-sto's and they don't need fitting.)
Wolf Lone Wolf makes a long slide for the 6" barrel, they also make a drop in 6" barrel.  (In process but hasn't been released quite yet.)
9x25 dillion Dillon is just a matter of dropping in a 9x25 barrel. Wolf Lone Wolf makes one.

Blund - Fixed it for you.
If you own a 10mm you're likely to eventually take up reloading because commercial 10mm is expensive and once you have the brass, reloading 10mm is just as cheap as reloading 40sw.  Even my stout 10mm target loads cost me less that 10ยข / round.

Im looking into reloading, but i still dont like to reload my own HD ammo for legal reasons.

Took out the gun today and ran a few mags through it, was a blast, loads of fun. Didnt shoot much for groups, just to function test. Over all i must say im very happy with my first glock.

Thanks for all the the help guys,

Pat

You can duplicate your HD loads when reloading... shoot the reloads at the range.. leave the factory loads in your carry mags.
