Can a Glock 21 SF be fitted with a standard Glock Magazine release????
Instead of the ambi that it comes with?????? Thanks for any help. |
| I don't think you can retrofit an ambi mag release to a standard but you can buy the standard mag release G21sf. I know because I have one. I ordered it from Summit Gun Broker |

I ordered it from Summit Gun Broker I am very partial to my standard mag release, standard rail 21SF. Once ordered from my LE dealer it took seven...one, two, three, four, five, six, seven...months for it to come in, but it was well worth the wait. |

I kinda like the ambi release on mine. I wonder if you could file the release on the right side of the frame so that it is flush with the grip? Probably but I think the objection to the ambi mag release is more about the dependency on new mags versus any old G21 mag. |
| I question the reliability of the ambi mag release. I brought home a new 21SF last night and the ambi release came apart inside the pistol before I could even shoot it. The little metal paddle that holds in the magazine came loose and fell out of the pistol. Fortunately my dealer took it back since it was not fired and I am ordering one with the standard release. The Glock ambi mag release just looks fragile, not to mention that it is not nearly as smooth as the standard release. Glock should really go back to the drawing board on their ambi release. |

It was certainly part of the decision making process for me, but nevertheless the ambi-release was never a big plus in my eyes. I qualify with all of my duty/off-duty guns strong and weak hand, and haven't had any problems manipulating the standard releases with my weak hand. I guess it comes down to personal preference. |
