and updating to new parts?

pain in the arse?

worth it?

guy i know has a glock 30, which i'm really wanting right now...

i can get it significantly cheaper than a new one, but he said his doesn't have the rails that the newer ones have...

if i ever wanted to upgrade to the rails, is that a huge deal?

do i have to send it to glock and get them to do it?

not really necessary...unless its on a particular model

imo..no, not unless you need too; spare parts are good to have on hand

the rails were not introduced on the G30 til a couple yrs ago...get the first 3 letters of yoru serial #, and you will get the yr of manf (or call glock)
PS: upgrade on a G30 is NOT necessary imo

upgrading the frame for a rail is kind of a 'huge' deal––you have to send the gun to glock and ask em to give you a railed frame; since the frame is considered the firearm, you have to have it re-transfered as a new firearm via an FFL...of course, you have to pay for a the new frame (~$200 IIRC)

imo: you are better suited buying another glock w/ a frame or just getting an aftermarket frame (surefire) that may work (the G30s have a short frame end, and i cant recal anyone who makes one specifically for it)

in other words: buy the G30 since its a great deal, and shoot it
