I have and am deeply in love with my G19. Why would anyone (serious question) buy a G17 over the G19? I mean, the extra capactity is only two rounds? Unless your hands are BigFoot size, the G19 should fit perfectly? What am I missing here? |

The grip fits their hand better? They have rather wide hands? Slightly longer barrel and sight radius? There are plenty of reasons but the G17 is not comfortable for my. The palm swell is in the wrong place for me vs. the G19 rides perfectly. By the way...I haven't purchased a single spare 15 round mag for my G19. Every spare mag I have purchased is 17 round. Who cares if it sticks out a little bit...I don't think the mag sticking out is what will attract attention after firing 15 rounds of 9mm. |

17 all the way for me, is even my daily carry piece. The 17 fits me like a glove, the 19 not so much.
It's not so much a matter of hand size but hand shape I believe. Depending on manufacturer, I wear either a medium or large glove. My problem with the 19 is the palm swell sits too high, and on Gen 3 19 models the top finger groove is too close to the trigger guard. Why they didn't simply cut the length off the 17 grip is beyond me. My wife, who has smaller hands than I, has the same preference. |

Some actually like the balance and feel of the full sized pistol better, not to mention the increased velocity, sight radius, capacity, and faster follow up shots. While my personal favorite is the G19, I think people debating between the G17 and G19 should go with what fits their hand, not everyone elses, hand the best. What you're missing is that you are only looking at it only from "your" perspective. |

Given the marginal difference between the two, I'd go with the G17 simpy because it gives me two extra rounds and the slightly longer grip grip fits me better than the G19.
I carry the G17 everyday all year, but would also be plenty satisfied with the G19 if I had to carry it. TK |

For me, the 17 is the original and still the best. YMMV |

Well, the voting is much closer than I had imagined. Maybe instead of a second 19, I'll get a 17?
Also I find it interesting that the 19 vs 17 debate is rather civil, unlike the 1911 vs Glock debate. Oh, and still waiting for the Glock carbine that takes G17 mags........................ |

If you have and it doesn't feel any better to you and\or you don't shoot it any better then just get another G19. You know 2 is one, one is none but if you haven't tried a 17 yet, you owe it to yourself to find one to shoot before buying either. You may end up with both either way Quoted:
Oh, and still waiting for the Glock carbine that takes G17 mags........................ You,, me and about 100k other people but I've given up hope that it will ever happen. |

Oh, and still waiting for the Glock carbine that takes G17 mags........................ You're looking for a "right" or "wrong" answer and there isn't one. It's a matter of personal preference. You have a better chance of seeing the MSAR MCS 9mm carbine before seeing a Glock carbine. I'm not positive but i had heard that the MCS carbine was designed to work with compact pistol mags (ie. g19) but the carbine has been put OH. |

I've held/shot a G17, which I did like quite a bit, but once I held the G19, it was what I ended up buying.
My hands are relatively small (which is great for some of my hobbies dealing with small parts and components), and while the G17 isn't bad, the G19 is perfect (for me). Maybe later on when I've got more money to put into this hobby, I'll buy a G17 variant, but for now my G19 will be my only pistol for a while. (I want some other rifles |
