I am a firearm instructor in a med to large department that issues Glock 22's. The most common problem (besides limpwristing)I have found in shooter induced malfunctions is the thumbs  are either resting against or crowding the slide stop. During firing it makes enough contact which causes the malfunction you have described.(it does not just lock the slide open) When the shooter repositions the thumbs the malfunction goes away.
The new slim gun of yours has probably changed your grip that you had with the standard grip frame.
You can check this theory by clearing your weapon , give it your shooting grip and check the thumb locations. Ideally the strong thumb should rest on  top of the support thumb with light or no pressure against the frame. too much thumb pressure will also push your impacts to the right if you are a right hand shooter.
I have also heard that the problem with the 36 was solved. It is a magazine problem.

G36 does suck

Mine kBed, and now I will never own another Gaston product unless it is a basket to take a dump in.

Sorry to hear about your KB. Just because your G36 blew up doesn't mean the only thing Glock products are good for is "for me to poop on". If you haven't, try some of their other guns before you swear them all off.

Curious?

Anybody ever find out what happened?

Reloads? factory ammo? lead build up? obstructed bore? case failure? out of battery gun?

This thread confuses me.

I apparently should have not started this thread. The post is a possible solution to the previous Glock 36 sucks thread and it is something to check if you have malfunctions with your Glock and have not found the fix. I should have put it on the other thread.
sorry.

Glock = 9mm, at least to me that is.

I wouldn't touch a glock in any other caliber.

I'm confused as well.  My G 36 is one of my favorite carry guns.  I've put about 10,000 rounds of every kind of ammo through it with no problems at all.  I think it's a great gun, but what do I know.  Some of these comments remind me of my business partner that said he would never get another chevy because his battery died.  It was 6 years old.

The rearmost thumb should be pointed up and away from the slide stop for a proper grip on any Glock, not fully resting on the foreward thumb.

Federal HST 230 gr standard pressure .45 ACP

The round count was under 500 rounds when the gun went kB.

The gun and I have never used reloads, I do not reload and never shoot them either. Nor do i shoot non jacketed ammo.

I also do not rechamber rounds for the damage of bullet set back.

This gun was a total piece of shit, and I can no longer trust my life to Gaston.  I sold my G22 afterwards due to this along with the G36.  I only shoot HKs from now on.

You can rest it on the thumb and it works fine, I was simply pointing out that the thumbs can interfere with the functioning.

" I only shoot HKs from now on"

Imagine that....

Funny, the only company whose products I've ever had issues with (and I see a LOT of guns on a daily basis) has been...wait, drumroll....Heckler and Koch.  Oh, and their CS sucks, about the worst in the business from a retail/consumer perspective.

Sorry to hear about your G36....Any chance you'd elaborate on the Kb?  Was it a case separation, did the mag blow out the bottom, what happened?  I have...not that it would change your opinion, heard of Federal QC issues at one point in time that led to some overly charged ammo making it out. (again, just heard, never personally experienced, but where's there's smoke there is usually fire at some point)

PM me if you're curious how I see so many guns.

In another thread, Blackmagic94 states:  LINK

My Glock 36 kbed. The barrel did not blow up nor did the casing, the trigger and take down assemble broke and shot out of the gun making the gun a paper weight, I sent it to Glock and they replaced the trigger group and take down pin and gave me a new barrel just in case. The lower they did not replace and it was gouged very heavy and the new trigger was very notchy when I got it back, i will never trust another glock nor was I happy with not replacing the lower.

Yes, I'm the idiot who PM'd him.
I don't know a lot about glocks and I don't know what he's talking about when he says the "take down assembly" broke.  Do any of you Glock experts know what the heck happened?  Did the trigger pin break? the locking block?

So are you addressing the magazine drop problem some of us are experiencing with the 36?  If so I'd like to hear more about the magazines being at fault.

no, you did right.
this is YOUR topics/thread, not someone else's about kBs, which is unrelated to your general premise
