Regular 21 mags won't work in a 21SF?
Can an ambi mag release be changed out to a regular mag release? |

They won't work in an SF with the ambi release. Buy an SF with the standard release and they will work fine. That is what I did.
I am not sure on the release but I think the frame design on the inside of the grip does not allow you to swap an ambi with a standard release. |

The older 21 mags will not work without modification in the 21 SF. However, the 21 SF mags will work with the older 21. The current newer mags for the 21 should fit both guns. If you really wanted to you could make the older mags work in the 21 SF by cutting out a rectangular slot in the front of the mag.
You cannot convert an ambi mag catch to the older standard mag catch. If you want the standard mag catch you can try to get the Califorinia approved "STD" model. |

Bottom line is if you want to use old G21 mags, get an G21 SF with the standard release. Glock makes 3 versions of the SF
1. Pic rail with Ambi release. 2. Standard rail with Ambi release. 3. Standard rail with regular (old) release. I bought version 3 and am able to use all the old style G-21 mags with it. |

You can convert the older Mags to work with the ambi release. Take some heavy paper and make a template from a new mag. Then use your template and a sharp razor blade to cut out the new notch. Go slow, the important cut is the top of the notch. I cut mine short and trimmed it away slowly to the correct fit.
