So I have been stopping by my local shooting range with my Kimber Custom 2 over the last month and each time I'm in I try a new glock.  I never cared for Glock's in the past but they have grown on me and I'm ready to buy.  My problem is this...do I get the Glock 17 or the Glock 34.

I love the way the 34 handles and fires, but I find that I'm pretty much just as accurate with the 17 and I like the shorter sight radius/handling of the 17.  That said, there's just something about that 34, kinda like the difference between shooting a Springfield Mil-spec 1911 and a Kimber, same gun, pretty much equal accuracy, but that Kimber just feels right.

This is my thing, is there a company out there that modifies Glocks like Kimber does 1911s?  Ideally I'd like to get a 17 with the 34s trigger/slide release/sights and maybe add a competition/match barrel...has anybody else gone this route?

Just hoping for a little info to point me in the right direction or some testimonials.

Thanks.

You should get the 34.  Longer barrel...slightly better ballistics.  After all, you could eventually buy a 17 slide/barrel combo for it anyway.

Changing out the connector and slide stop lever isn't hard to do.Sights can be done by most any gun shop. Most barrels just drop in.

have both...they are both great guns

if you plan on having a custom shop mess with the glock in the first place, you might as well choose the one that YOU prefer as is (sounds like the G17)

both guns are capable of equal accuracy imo

Range only = Glock 34
Range + Home = Glock 17
Range + Home + CCW = Glock 19

G17 does it all, for me anyway.

Range+home+concealed carry.  Great pistol.
