Hey guys. The gold lube that comes on the Glock... If it starts to dissapear is it important to replace, or does regular oiling work? If you need to buy it where can you get it?

Just use regular gun lubricant.

It is pretty cool stuff lol.

TW25B if you want a grease.

otherwise, regular lube works.  I just prefer grease as it tends to stay in the general area where applied.

After this there will be others who disagree with the above, etc, ad infinitum

FWIW I suspect the gold lubricant used on the slide that comes from the factory is an industrial high temp anti sieze type and it may have some copper powder in it.

Similiar to Loctite C5-A Copper-Based Anti-Seize lubricant, protects metal parts from corrosion and seizure to 1800 deg. F.

I planned to use this since it is available for me. Who can verify this?

Although I agree with the other posters a good gun oil will do aswell.

I believe I posted in another thread that yes indeed it is a copper based anti-seize lube. I have a bottle of the gold anti-seize that I got a long time ago from Glockmeister that I use on the slide rails and feel that it holds up better than a normal gun oil.

Yup, I use Caterpillar 1800 degree Anti-Seize (with Copper particles) on all of my glocks.  Why Cat?  Because I get it at work, and have a 3.5 lb jar of it.  I should be able to pass this same jar on to my son.

Oh, I can see it now...

Years in the future...

Dad: Son, I have something very dear to me that I wish to pass on to you. I hope that you will cherish it and use it often and when you use it I hope that you will think of me. One day, I hope that you can pass it on to your boy.

Son: OK, Dad. So what is it?

Dad: Here you go. (hands the boy a partially used jar of Caterpillar 1800 degree Anti-Seize (with copper particles!))

Son: (wrinkles nose, furrows eyebrows) Uh, thanks, Dad. What is it?

Dad: (seriously) Its lube son, its lube.

Later that night...

Dad: (sees that his son is obviously distraught about something) What's the matter son?

Son: Well, you said that you hoped that I would use that lube stuff that you gave me often, right?

Dad: Yes, I did. Is there a problem?

Son:(nervously) Well, not exactly....Its just that my girlfriend, Jenny...well,... she really hates the taste of it....

It is my opinion that anti seize is used to prevent seizing of parts (usually dissimilar metals) and not to lubricate surfaces. It is basically the opposite of lock tight. When you put a stainless steel screw in a carbon steel part for instance you put a drop of anti seize on the tip of the screw. I do not use anti seize as a lube for my guns, but it probably works fine. I do not think that it really matters what you use to lube your guns as long as you do it often enough and don't use too much. I have a big tub of red axle geese that i use as a gun lube for the large moving parts like the slide rails. For the small internal moving parts I usually use a regular bottle of clp.
