This will be my first pistol, and I was woundering how to break it in.

What type of ammo do you reccomend? Has to be factory loads. Do I want surplus?
What type of shooting, formal or informal? Distance?
How many rounds do you reccomend?

It will shoot it all. Because it's your first pistol I'd recommend lower grade ammo so that you can buy more for your money.

After you figure out how it works I recommend breaking it in with a formal training class so that you develop good shooting and gun handling techniques from the beginning.

You will need a welders mask, flak jacket, and fire retardent gloves.

Just kidding! (poor Glock humor.)

Just run it, it loves abuse.

Agreed with all posters.

After a decent initial cleaning (read up on what not to do, like oil the firing pin channel), keep shooting it, and keep cleaning it. Cheap ammo is just fine. Start with 5 yards, slow fire, and work up the speed. If you can put a full magazine rapidly into a 12" diameter at 10 or 15 yards, you'll be a better shot than most.

Take a course early on to correct any bad habits before they set in permanently. I wish I had.
