Hey all,
I searched and didn't quite find what I was looking for.

I'm about to buy my first gun, a barely used Glock 22, .40 cal from a friend of mine.
He said he put about 50 rounds through it and didn't like it but his job required him to purchase it.
The serial is bky4XXus
Can you guys tell me approximately when it was made?

I came up with May 1995, 2nd generation. Am I correct?

He is also including 4- 10 round glock mags, as well as all of the original documents, tools, case, etc.

Any ideas how much I should offer without insulting him?

And  finally.. I don't believe it has the accessory rail which I really wanted for a tact. light for home defense.

Has anyone used the Command Arms Glock Under Barrel Picatinny Rail Mount on a Glock 22?
Does it work well and do you have any pix?

Thanks!!

Looking forward to joining the Glock family.

here is a good reference. I would not give him more than 350 for it. If you want to put a light on it, just get a 3rd gen and be done with it.

Wash linked to a G21, here is the link to the G22's, but he is currently sold out. http://www.summitgunbroker.com/1966886.html . IIRC he was asking $335 for 2nd gen G22 w/ Night Sights. HE is asking $479 for NIB G22 w/ Night Sights, but you would have to ask him to swap out the 3 "hi caps" for 10 rounders or some pre bans if he has them.

Wash is right about not offering more than $350 for it.

ETA:  As for the age, did you try here...http://glockmeister.com/sernumb.shtml  ?

Thanks!
I dropped glockmeister and email with the serial.

Is there anything else I should know about this gun before purchasing it?

And I also plan on swapping the barrel out with the 9mm conversion, and use the G17 magazines to keep it cheaper for the range as well.

I can't wait!

I called up and spoke with Glock directly to get info on this specific gun.
Their customer service was amazing.

Here is the history and I think it'll change my price quite a bit.

Put into service May 15th, 1995
Sent to Glock as a trade-in/refurb Feb. 2003
Glock did a certified refurb/rebuild on it sent it back out to a shop in NY May 2003

So maybe my friend put 50 rounds through it, but it's been around for quite a long time.

Now how much do you guys think it's worth?

And with that history, is there anything you think I should replace/upgrade or change?

Thanks!!

Still about $350, but offer as much as you want.  Just afew weeks ago you could get "new" 3rd gen refurbs for less then $400 shipped w/ night sights online.

What was that site again! I cant remember.

BTW salsa I wouldn't worry so much about the light if it was specifically for home defense. That being said in that situation where you shine your light might not always be where you want your gun to be pointing.

Very true.
Maybe I'll just get a set of Crimson trace grips and a separate surefire light. Thanks.
