My trusty 19 has some kind of rough spots in the barrel. I have been cleaning guns for a long time and it is not fouling. I have the barrel cleaned of carbon and copper and it is super shiny. I can feel these spots with a dental pick and they are not very deep at all.
Also they are located only on the very top/high part of the rifle groves and just after the chamber less then 1/2 inch down the rifling. The rest of the rifling and bore is perfect all the way to the crown.

These are new as they were not there last time I shot it a month ago. Today I attended a Combat Focus shooting class and it was at an outside range. It was raining very hard all day and we were covered in mud and soaked. So because of the conditions we shot in today I thought it may be some rust spots starting but now I think not because the whole barrel would show it and not just infront of the chamber and exactly on the high spots on the rifling and no where else.
I also thought maybe some grit made it into the bore and it damaged the bore when I fired?

Any way I'll have to bench rest the gun to see if it effects accuracy. Any ideas as to what this is or how it may have happened?
Many thanks!!!

EDIT TO ADD:

If I need a new barrel do factory barrels have tobe fitted? WIll the new barrel lock up as tight as the original barrel? Thanks again!

No, factory barrels do not have to be fitted.  All stock Glock parts, including barrel, are drop-in.  You can take the barrel out of one G19, put it into another, and it'll run 100%.  Or a new barrel.

Not sure what the issue in your bore could be.  Obviously you're not a noob, so not very likely you've left a solvent or something in the barrel too long. You know, most dedicated lead removers being somewhat corrosive, etc.

Hard to say really........how many rounds through this barrel?  What kind of ammo usually?

Hunter223 posted a while back about some issues with his Glock barrel...I seem to recall he said this was the second barrel it had happened to. Anyway, here is a link to part of his posts as well as some pics he took.

The gun is new with just under 1,000 rounds through it all rounds fired had a copper jacket.

I suppose it could be from being fired with some kind of debris in it, although Glock barrels are tough as hell.

Maybe have a smith in the area take a look at it, or give Glock a call and see what they say.  They might have you send it to them so they can have a look at it.  You never know.

Wish we could see some pics though.  Hard to get a good clear shot of the inside of a barrel, though......

ETA:  again, what kind of solvents or cleaners have you ever used in it?  How long have you ever let it "soak" with a chemical agent in it?

I use Silp 2000 solvents and Wipe-Out foaming bore cleaner for copper removal. Dewey coated rods and Pro Shot brushes with brass cores so no damage is possible.

I have been cleaning this way for years with no damgae to any of my guns.

I beleive it has something to do with the tennifer process. From what I read, it's normal and smooths itself out over time.
