Just wondered if anyone knows of gun dealers that still have 1st Geration Glocks?  I'm not model specific, but would like one in decent condition for it's age.

Thanks.

The 1st generation Glocks were the G17s which were invented in 1980 IIRC, the first ones imported to the US available to civilians were in 1986 (I own one).

G19s were not produced until 1988 and I'm uncertain as to when they were first available for purchase in the US, but several changes had been made to the frame, besides the smaller size, so I'm uncertain if they are Gen I Glocks, (I own one of them too and the stipling is different than on the Gen I 17 as well as the SN metal and it's missing the Phoenix stamping on the slide and the barrel).

I assume that you mean gen 2 G19s? Gen 1 G19s are VERY few and far between...if your shop does have one then drop me a line as I'd like it for the "collection"

gen 2 has the rail but no grooves, right?  I don't know if they still have them, but they were consecutive serials too.

And the Gen 2.5's have the finger grooves (that don't line up with my fingers at all ), but no equipment rail.  I have a Gen 2.5 G20 that I bought from Mark at Summit Gun Brokers a few years ago.

Yeah I do, just can't stand the finger groves.

The finger grooves on the full sized guns dont bother me, but on the Compact versions I cant stand them.  That is why my normal carry gun is a 2nd generation model 19.   And I do have a first generation 17 that is my absolute favorite Glock.  I really like the texture of the first generation grips.

Just buzz the front with a rotary tool.  Scrape serrations in with a file.  Done.

I would love one too but IIRC only five Gen 1 G19s made it into the country. I have a very early Gen 2 G19 made in December of 1988 and I love it. But to find a true Gen 1 G19 would be equivalent to finding the Holy Grail, IMO.

One guy over on GT has one and I droll all over myself every time I see the pictures.

According to some of the Glock reference books, between 800-1200 Gen 1 G19's were imported into the U.S.  Mark over at Summit Gun Broker had one a few years back.  I think the sale price broke the $1000 mark.

I love my Gen 2 glock.

I got it for a song, replaced all the springs for dirt nothing, learned how to completely take apart every glock model made in the process and I now have a good shooter.

I used to like the finger grips so I put a hogue slip on grip for my Gen 2 and I took it off cause I like the checkering on the original gen grip.

I don't like pre-molded finger grooves anymore.

Gen2 glocks IMO are bar far the best deal out there.
So easy to work on also.

I like 'em without the finger groves myself.  Grind the groves smooth and use some skateboard tape .  The grips is feels like velcro in your hand.

Ditto.  Can't stand finger groove grips on ANY pistol.

I can not stand the finger grooves. I own 21 Glocks (17,19,21,22,23,26,31) and I will not own one with the grooves. I have wanted to get a 35 but have not found one w/out grooves. I did however find a 31 w/out grooves

I'd like to have a 1st Gen G17...  half for collector reasons, half because it'd be a kickass 9mm to have around.
