| Why won't Glock bring the .380 Cal to the US?. |
|
Doesn't meet import regulations. IIRC it only is short like 2 points on the inspection criteria. They would make a raping if they did though. Length: 1 point for each 1/4 inch over 6 inches. Forged steel frame: 15 points Forged HTS alloy frame: 20 points Unloaded weight (w/mag): 1 point per ounce. .22 short or .25 auto: 0 points .22 LR and 7.65 mm to .380 auto: 3 points 9mm parabellum and over: 10 points Locked breech mechanism: 5 points Loaded chamber indicator: 5 points Grip safety: 3 points Magazine safety: 5 points Firing pin block or lock: 10 points External hammer: 2 points Double action: 10 points Drift adjustable target sight: 5 points Click adjustable target sight: 10 points Target grips: 5 points Target trigger: 2 points. |
How is it possible for an individual to import them if Glock can't? Are individuals exempt from playing the "points game?" |
So let's talk them into making special tungsten ( ) mag floorplates to bring the weight up, getting them the points they need. If those happen to get accidentally lost and replaced w/ standard ones later that'd be just too bad.

Glock can, for Mil. and LEO use only. Civi's are out of luck. Kind of like post ban class 3 stuff. |
|
I don't think I would rate them as "useless" there are several countries where individuals or LE are banned from using/owning anything in a military caliber. 9mm is, but 380 is not, so it allows for ownership of a good gun in a useable caliber. Would I choose the 380 over the 9mm in the same size? No. Would I use the 380 if it's all I could get my hands on? In a heartbeat. |
No, of course, I mean useless to US. Yes, this is why Glocks in .380 exist. Alot of countries don't allow ownership of "military" caliber firearms. Yes. Seems like we were just talkin' about this in another thread the other day. OP, use the search, you'll see more comments and info on the subject. Yeah, I would have and use a .380 if I wasn't allowed to own 9mm, .45ACP, etc. But that's why I don't live in one of those countries! |
I have heard of people getting them down in South America on vacation and just putting it in their checked baggage. That is not the legal way to do it but it would be hard to get caught because it is legal to have an unloaded firearm in your checked bags. |
