I just got my second Glock pistol, a G31.  I recently got the G35 and really like the extended slide and mag release.

I want to add the extended features to my G31, is it one of those "do it your self" jobs or will I need special Glock Armorer tools?

I assume that it is best to go with ORIGINAL GLOCK parts as well...?

Thanks!

I cannot tell you about the slide release but the mag release is easy. If you look in the mag well you will see a "wish bone" type spring. Take a dental tool or similar impliment simply push the spring past the catch and remove it along with the actual part.

I learned this because I despise the extended release and wanted a shorter on my G34. Mags would drop by hitting the extended release at the most inopertue times. The extended slide release is nice though, not that I use it, but in a one hand only situation it could be a lifesaver.

Get yourself a 3/32" punch to drive out the trigger pin and pull out the existing slide lock lever.  Its definitely a do it yourself project.  I don't think you need to pull the mag release spring out along with the mag release when you replace that with the extended version.

both easy jobs

if you dont have a punch, an allen wrench will work too

Both installs are relatively easy to do.  I bet there are YouTube videos that will walk you through.  I actually bought a DVD that showed how to field and detail strip a Glock.  After I saw the DVD once, it was so easy to do with out any reference/instructions.

BTW, anyone wants to buy the DVD, "Comlete Glock"?

I got the same one with the same results. Worth every penny of the $19.95 I paid for it even if I never watch it again and forget where I put it.

Probably the easiest handgun in the world to detail strip. (Production; don't point out the simplicity of the Liberator or something like that. )

Glockmeister step-by-step frame disassembly with pictures.

The slide release is simple. Knock out the top (locking block) pin, and jiggle the release as you knock out the trigger pin. Piece of cake. (And reinstall block pin first, then the release and trigger pin.)

The mag release is even easier. Look with a flashlight at the release, and you'll see a notch. With a thin screwdriver, push the metal spring so that it lines up with the notch, and when it pops out, pull it out with some pliers. (Which you might even be able to skip, but I always pull the spring all the way out. It's just a thin metal thingee) Then pop out the old release, pop in the new, get the spring back in its hole and push it in so that the tip is roughly in line with the top of the notch on the release. With a screwdriver, push it into the notch, and done.

(I just installed 5 Vickers mag releases, which took MAYBE 5 minutes all together, and this was the first time I ever messed with the mag release.)
