I'm thinking about picking up a G26 this weekend and I was wondering if I should get one with standard sights or the night sights. The price difference is about $60. I guess another option would be to get the standard sights and replace them with some after market ones. What do you think? |
Yep, you're right. (per candace at Glock.) Don't know why I thought they were plastic?

Meprolight night sights is what I use on my handguns. I've tried the XS Sight 24/7 Big Dot sights on my G26 and just couldn't get used to them. I just installed a set of Meprolight adjustable night sights on the G26 tonight. Anyone want to purchase a used set of Big Dot sights?

+1 , the front sight is TALL. I have a set of Mep adjustables on my G23 - because the POI changes when I use my conversion bbl - and I use it as my nightstand gun with original .40 bbl. They are however great rugged sights and brighter than my trijicons. My G26 - carry gun , wears Trijicons , as does my G19 , and I'm quite happy with them. A traditional 3 dot system that glows. I used to have the XS Big Dots and didn't care for them. They were very easy for the eye to pick-up - in "point shooting" - quick for sure. But I couldn't aimed fire well at all with them. I recomend finding someone with them and trying before buying. Have fun , shoot safe. -JC |
The factory NS are the only ones that are staked. Mepros, Trijicons, etc, are just screwed in. Couldn't be simpler. |
The chances of getting into a "gunfight" anywhere are somewhere between infinitesimal and zero; however, if you've ever done any low-light shooting, you'll appreciate night sights. If you don't use night sights and are just speculating about various s.d. scenarios, then you aren't giving very good advice, are you? |
Actually , most gunfights occur during low or no light hours. Almost any good training course or study will teach that. There are statistics to back it up , but I'm not going to bother looking for them right now - I need coffee. For home defense an attached light or bright handheld is recomended. -JC |
| Check out the tactical response fighting pistol course, take it or watch the video. They will tell you the exact same thing. If telling someone they don't need night sights is 'bad' advice consider me guilty. What would you call it when the situation arises when you fire shots at an individual who fires back....oh yeah a gunfight. |
