I purchased a used G17 from a gunshop and the frame, barrel and slide all have different serial numbers.  How in the heck could that happen?  The pistol is in great shape.

Someone switched parts.

That depends on the type of serial numbers the slide and barrel have.  If they are standard serial numbers, the parts were simply switched between other guns.  If the slide serial number begins a single letter digit, and the barrel starts with a single letter digit(an L if I am not mistaken), then the slide and barrel were replaced by Glock.  There are many reasons this may have been done.  As long as the gun shoots fine, I see no reason to worry about it.

Thanks.  The slide starts with an 'S', the barrel with a 'GTZ'.  The pistol shoots fine.  The trigger is a little heavy, but that will be fixed soon enough.
