Howdy guys and gals,

New to the glock family having purchased a glock 23, for concealed carry as well as range time.  I have been reading on here and glocktalk both and have so far only filled in/painted some of the slide engravings, field stripped, cleaned, and lubed the gun.

So here come my questions...

A. What is the going opinion on extended controls (slide release, and mag release), what company/brand to go with, any problems with them, etc etc?

B. How does the .25 cent trigger job change the trigger feel, I read the article on how to perform it, and have my ruger sp101 worked to make it smoother, but what is the main difference?  Will I still feel the two stops (safety and right before the shot?)

C. When i see people changing from 5.5 to 3.5 # springs is that making the trigger pull lighter, or am I understanding something wrong?

Any suggestions for a first time semi-auto & glock owner?  Things to do to the gun, etc etc.

Thanks so much!

The shooting is coming tommorow morning, but have shot many before this purchase and loved them, so figured I would buy one, didn't help to get a decent deal.

Bump for opinions on the questions.

I have a G21, G30, and G19.  I used my G21 for IDPA matches.  Here's what I've done:

-Barsto drop in barrel (love it - more accuracy and easier clean up - IMHO)

-3.5# trigger (wonderful for competition / range - crisp, lighter trigger.  I use for CCW carry too, but have to think about it carefully, it's a light trigger)

-Extended Mag release (cheap, easy mod - speeds reloads especially if you have smaller hands on the big Glock grip)

-Extended slide release (again, just a quick and cheap mod that makes for a more positive engagement)

-Backstrap plug (no real need, just like the look)

Additionally, I tried the non-captured stainless steel guide rod w/ wolff spring but found it didn't add anything and made reassembly a PITA.

Got most of my parts from Topglock.com and Glockparts.com, but there are several reputable vendors out there.

Have fun.  The Glocks are great to work on and fun to shoot.  Not quite up to the 1911 standard (I'm a 1911 guy at heart) but they have their place.
