My glock17 has never seen factory ammo.
I load a 125gr copper plated round nose or SWC over 4.5gr of Bullseye.

Have been shooting reloads from my G21 and G30 for over three years.  Have probably put at least 2-3k rounds thru the G21.

Powder - Win231
Primers - CCI
Bullets - LRN up until recently now using FMJRN

I know - the experts keep saying you are not supposed to use lead in the Glocks - KABOOM!  Did it for lots and lots of rounds and not a problem.  Kept the bbl's clean - didn't let the lead build up.

I did have a problem when I used Winchester primers - didn't always go BOOM under the striker.  Had dimples but no discharge.  Not a problem with the CCI.

9mm - WSF Rainier or Montana Gold Bullets

.40 - IMR SR7625 Berry's bullets

.45 - WST Berry's bullets

All with Federal or Remington primers.

It's been a while since my G17 has seen factory ammo in any appreciable numbers.  The last 1200 or so have all been reloads, plus maybe 30 or so WWB rounds to compare to.  4.8 gr of HP38 or Win231 with a 115 gr FMJ is pretty nice.  5.2 gr of HP38 is pretty good too.  Nice and accurate.  My Glock seems to like it's loads a little hot, like factory WWB.  I also prefer CCI primers over Winchester becasue the Wins don't feed so well from the LEE lever prime on my press.  Never had a dud on the CCI, even though they're though of as being somewhat hard.

The salesman at the sporting goods store I bought my G17 from said ..."you can't shoot reloads from a Glock, but you can shoot reloads from an XD"... (he was comparing the two)

At first I was like
but then figured I'd let it slide and ask Arfcom
It sounds like I have my answer: He's full of it

About 99% of the ammo I shoot in my G17,31,and 34 are reloads.
I use Power Pistol powder, Hornady 124/ 125 gr. XTP and FMJ bullets, with CCI primers.

yes, all of them.  Never fired factory ammo other than when I let people I don't really know too well shoot the firearms... Otherwise, my gun, my loads.

ohh...

.40 135gr Noslers with Longshot... not giving load data though.  It's hot.

There's the problem.

To his credit though, XDs do have a more supported chamber than Glocks.  Of course, you can spend $100 and get a new barrel for the Glock that's just as supported as an XD and then you can shoot all the nuclear lead loads you want out of it.

I shoot reloads in all 10 of my Glocks, but everything but the 9mm's wear Lone Wolf barrels for added chamber support.  Those are in .40, 10mm and .45acp.  The 9mm's well start getting Lone Wolf barrels, too, when I can afford them.

Sure, most people never have a problem with reloads in a Glock, but I'm not willing to take the chance.

All of my reloads are my own cast bullets from wheelweight or recovered range alloy.  Powder?  Whatever I can buy cheaply and can find load data in a modern manual for.  I have a friend who purchases estates of reloading equipment, bullet casting equipment and reloading components.  I buy any unopened powder for between $5 and $10 per pound from him in large quantities.

My 9mm reload uses a Lyman 147gr cast bullet sized .002 oversize.  This way, with the slightly larger diameter and the slightly softer alloy, there is absolutely NO leading, even after 400+ rounds of no cleaning, with a load that is 0.2gr under max listed in the manuals.  This works the same way the Civil War era "Minie" balls worked with their hollow base.  They were soft enough to expand their skirt and create a tight seal with no gas blow-by and full rifling engagement.  With the softer alloy of the wheelweights, they will slightly bulge, create a tight seal, and fully engage even the Glock's rifling, with no leading whatsoever.  Recovered bullets show rifling engagement with no stripping at all, which is associated with cast bullets and Glocks.

Like I said, I've gone over 400 rounds in a night with no cleaning at all and the bore looks like a mirror afterwards.

Am I recommending shooting reloads in a Glock?  No.  And I never would in any Glock larger than a 9mm without an aftermarket barrel.  But, that's just me.

The majority of my 9mm reloads are 125gr Lead roundnose with 5.1 grains of HS-6 and a WSP. Or sometimes I use 115gr Montana Gold and 4.8 gr of Win 231. Both work well in my G19 and G34.

I will let you know this evening.  I got my 19 this morning.  I cast my own 125gr and load them with red dot.  We will see how it goes.

My 20 has seen maybe one box of 10mm factory ammo in its entire life.

Hasn't blown up yet.

My G17 has NEVER seen a factory load.  As long as you run plated or jacketed bullets, have at it.

Approximately 10K rounds of reloads through my G21 every year.

Loaded on a Dillon 550. Mixed brass, CCI LP primers, approximately 6 grains of Unique, and ... Lead bullets either 230 grain LRN or 200 grain SWC. Stock G21 barrel and no I have not blown up my Glock shooting lead!

G23- 5g W231 165g berrys cast plated FP 860fps

G30- 5g W231 200g berrys cast plated FP (780fps from my USP tactical 45. 5.1" barrel, havnt chronied it from the 3.8" glock)

both of these are light loads, and are really easy on your brass. there is NO bulge at all on the fired cases in the unsupported area. even on the 40SW.

My 19 absolutely hated my 124 lead reloads.  It had failures to chamber, and extract.  I will have to play with my dies to see if they will feed a little better.  I will let you know when I make some new loads this week.
